Yeah, by not playing them and putting the first team in.

Football is about winning trophies, well it certainly used to be. Qualifying for group stages is insignificant c.f. winning the title.

Anyway, why am I wasting my time on someone who can't comprehend english?

      Goodnight
I can comprehend english, your just making rubbish 'points'.

As for getting into the group stages - it does make a difference, it's a whole rounds worth of TV money.

And having money to buy top players plays a major part in winning trophies.

You talk as if losing the qualifier = winning the title.

The CL is a bit more important than just 'the cups'....financially speaking. I know you dont care about the money, but it's a crucial aspect in today's game.

As for using the squad players, i agree we do need to...when it's sensible to do so. 3rd round of the FA Cup and Carling Cup. In the CL group games, if we've already qualified. At home to Derby etc.

Not during 50% of a hugely important european cup tie...

Chilli mate nobody is saying our players are ****e. The only problem with the team you have put out is that Insua has only played only 3 competitive games for us while Leiva and Leto none. That itself is too much inexperience in the squad for a match we cant afford to screw up.
You say we should look to keep a clean sheet but you have put a back four that has never played together. What if Insua doesnt keep with the line for an offside trap or if Agger is covering for Hyypia's lack of pace and Insua doesnt take up position accordingly. These are mistakes that can easily occur and can cost us.
In central midfield you have put Leiva and Sissoko. Leiva hasnt played a single match for us let alone form an understanding with Momo and you expect us to control midfield with those two. Any hope of creativity from midfield would be from Pennant and Leto and it would be too much of a risk.
With the strong squad we have got, I think we can put a much much stronger team than that.

Players need to build up fitness. The best way is to play. Thus we play the strongest team available.

The other problem is, if we sacrifice the cups (and europe) for the league, it puts a huge amount of pressure on us to actually go and WIN it...which, whether we're in the cups or not, is fecking difficult.

Putting all our eggs in one basket THIS early is idiotic. Especially when that 'basket' is such a hugely difficult one to crack.

Even if we didnt even PLAY in the cups or europe, there's nothing to say we'd just go and win the league.

So what happens then if Mascherano for example gets injured and Alonso hasn't played for two or three weeks because we have not had enough games to play. He would then need a game to get match fit. He wouldn't need that if we play two games/week because he would play every week.
Just believe and you never know what will happen.

According to Benitez it's important not simply to go out to win but to go out prepared to win, which means players have to put in the same level of work on a daily basis. Anything else is unacceptable.

This thread is a waste of time. I thought it was a thread to put up your team for the Toulose match, not a pissing contest to see who can pick the strongest team.

I've stated my team and my reasons for picking it. If anyone can't just accept that then that's your problem, not mine.

Mate, to be honest, Rafa would put out a stronger side in the FA cup match against a championship team. And here we are talking about a team that came third in its league. Remember we only won last year's qualifier in the last minute or it was going to extra time.

Well, Rafa won the CL with a worse team than our b-team.

                        B-team........

                        -----------------Itandje
                        Arbeloa----Hyypia--------Paletta-----Aurelio
                        ----------------Alonso
                        Pennant--------Sissoko-------------Leto
                        -----------Crouch------Voronin

                        A-team......

                        ----------------Reina
                        Finnan----Carra------Agger-----Riise
                        ----------------Mascherano
                        Babel-----------Gerrard---------Kewell
                        ----------Torres-------Kuyt

I think both the above teams would knock out Toulouse.

I fully accept that you've got your reasons for picking a rubbish team.

Chilli do you think the team you posted can keep a clean sheet or win at Villa away.
