It's obviously early days but I did like the determination from our boys to go and win the game after Barry scored the pen, the heads didn't drop and we got our just rewards. IMO it was something that had been missing in previous years in the early season fixtures. If/when we stuff the chavs next week it'll boost the lads no end and there is no reason why we can't go on a good early season run of wins (for a change)

I think scoring the winner with 2 minutes to go probably counts as an action.Originally posted by NIred1 View PostGerrard is sounding extremely mature, finally evolving into a true captain. I have to admit that is very encouraging, even if it is all talk.
I'm playing all the right notes. Not necessarily in the right order. I'll give you that, sunshine.

There is no doubt at all that Gerrard is extremely important to our chances this year but we do have plenty of options in CM in case of injury.
It may be true that if we lose Stevie for a month or 2 we might struggle but i would hope the cover we have would do a pretty decent job. I would also hope that by the end of the season and in particular next season our reliance on Stevie is diminished (thinking Momo, Jossi and LUCAS here).
Having said all that, every team will always miss their best player, especially when he is in the top 3 in the world.
PS he showed he was maturing as a captain last year IMO. Good to hear him speak the same language as Rafa as it is vital all messages from the upper levels are the same. Well in Stevie.Nah. He won't win the Prem. You can quote me on that. - Sarb24

I'm intrigued by the Tevez - Rooney thing. Man United looked uncharacteristically devoid of ideas yesterday. They looked short of a forward who probed the defence and set up attacks and I think that Tevez + Rooney would have given them that as Rooney was learning to play the deeper role in the United game plan to perfection last season.Originally posted by Bob View PostI'm in the middle of you both (perish the thought)
, I don't think replacing Rooney with Tevez will have much impact, if any - Rooney is over-rated, at least in terms of consistency of an end-product. Also, with Alex i think Chelsea have stronger depth at the back, and if they get Alves (again, perish the thought) they will be solid all over the park.
Gerrard means more to us than any player from our rivals. I'd HATE losing him for any period of time.
I think it will take Tevez a little while to settle in to be as effective. Also they need another forward to allow them to play with the freedom of last year. I can only hope that these little glitches are enough to give them the sort of slow start to the season that has seen us have to write off the title before Christmas in recent years."The man who never alters his opinion is like standing water, and breeds reptiles of the mind."

For some reason I agree with you.Originally posted by rushscored4 View PostI resemble those remarks...
Just believe and you never know what will happen.
According to Benitez it's important not simply to go out to win but to go out prepared to win, which means players have to put in the same level of work on a daily basis. Anything else is unacceptable.

Overall I think he has matured but that bitch slap on Lucius against Feyenoord was irresponsible and pathetic to be honest...Originally posted by stevie_gerrard_8 View PostHasn't Gerrard matured so much in the way he speaks? Now he always seems to say the right things

I thought it was refreshing to see tbh. There have been too many times where members of the team have not stuck up for each other.Originally posted by rushscored4 View PostOverall I think he has matured but that bitch slap on Lucius against Feyenoord was irresponsible and pathetic to be honest...

Rafa did say he could see Gerrard being manager soon. Not sure whether he would be good tactically, but never mind that, let's just enjoy him playing football.Originally posted by Ben Tover View PostDoes anyone think Gerrard or Carra will be Liverpool boss in 10/20 years time?Javier Mascherano: 'I want to be settled and kill myself on the pitch so the team wins lots of games'

No, I meant he should have chinned the guy properly like Souey did with that player from Dinamo Bucharest at Anfield in 1984!Originally posted by stevie_gerrard_8 View PostI thought it was refreshing to see tbh. There have been too many times where members of the team have not stuck up for each other.

.
Problem is he would have been sent off, banned for Villa and we would have had 1 point instead of 3.Javier Mascherano: 'I want to be settled and kill myself on the pitch so the team wins lots of games'
