I hope England don't qualify and that the **** gets sacked, along with every other spineless prick in the FA - bunch of ******s they are.

Good on Carra, good on the lad, he deserves respect and the way he has been shat on in the past he has all the right to call it a day. Can only be better for Liverpool

Carra wasn't treated with the respect he deserves...it's pityfull of McClaren to go crawling back to him when he has an injury crisis. He should have played him all the time instead of the knob Rio.

I would have always started Carra but I can see why he didn't play instead of Rio, as Rio had pace. But no way should King, Brown etc. start in front of him.

            Fooking legend Carra love it!!!!

With granny shagger Rooney injured hopefully England will crash out of Euro

McClown will then be sacked, the useless fooker that he is. Dark days ahead for England the longer he's in charge.

He doesn't deserve Carra, let him stay with the dross that he currently picks. Mclaren's a fool.

I actually don't give a **** anymore about England qualifying for the Euros, usually I'm apathetic towards the national team until the major tournament and then enjoy it from there - however I have such annoyance at McClaren I really want England to fail to reach it.

I thought Carragher's point was he doesn't want to be called up then start on the bench or out of position. I can understand his frustration, but I can also understand giving some of the other (younger) players a run out in friendlies as you know you can count on Carra! (Woodgate, King etc aren't going to get top class experience with their clubs!)

I totally agree with this, we have younger options to take this, educational role in the squad. However if its a "Carra, we need you and your going to start the game at CB". Maybe he should reconsider? When everyone comes back and he'd be 3rd choice again then leave him out of the squad to concentrate on LFC.

Pace is great if you are running 100 or 200 metres at the Olympics

Unfortunately to be a top class defender you need to have brains and to be able to organise

Rio is sadly deficient in both of those attributes

I still think a top class defence relies on being a UNIT more than just pace itself. Carragher & Terry are expert at organising their UNIT and thats why they should have been the central pairing for the last World Cup

I can see what you are saying but shouldnt their also be some reward for a player who has been prepared to be a squad player in the past

To have others picked ahead of you can be soul destroying, particularly when they are clearly not playing as well as you have been for your club

Damn straight Mclaren is a knob!!

But these are qualifying games and Carra is our best defender. If he's going to start the game and Mclaren can reassure him of this, then he's more hitting back at Mclaren than following his own logic for withdrawing. He shouldn't let Mclarens presence over ride his own ethos and mentality.

Carra should have quit playing for England after the World Cup and being made the scapegoat for the penalty defeat, because obviously he was the only England player who missed a penalty.

He's been disrespected and ignored for far too long, given he is easily one of the most competent and consistent English players currently playing. Playing the likes of Brown, King, Woodgate ahead of him makes absolutely no sense to me, and I doubt it does to anyone else apart from McLaren.

The phrase too little too late springs to mind

What is Carra a doormat for Mclaren to rub his ****ty shoes on

Carras not good enough to get in the side (according to the current management), Mclaren clearly wanted to try others ahead of him, now when hes little or no option he comes trying to arse lick

                                Feck that
