to be honest i think that referees are under an awful lot of pressure and i don't begrudge them the odd mistake. teams need to be good enough and psychologically strong enough to overcome these ineveitable human failings.
a few things in relation to today though:
the penalty mistake was absolutely outrageous. i can't recall as laughably bad a decision. given the referees absolutely perfect position to see it it actually makes it infinitely worse. this guy does not have what it takes mentally to ref top level football. he should never referee another premiershp game on the basis of that one decision. what would any professional body think watching that? it is gross incompetence.
i have a bit more sympathy for the yellow card ****up. chelsea make refereeing close to impossible. they endlessly surround referees for blatantly obvious fouls and incidents. when one walks away another one takes his place in the referees face. they come from all over the pitch to do this. and none moreso than lampard and terry. this is not random - this is coached or at the very least loosely orchestrated
i have yet to see a liverpool/chelsea game where lampard doesn't lash out. at alonso particularly and he did it again today.
malouda will fit in perfectly there. a whining, diving cheating ****pig.
why was drogba not booked for sarcastically appaluding the ref?
gotta finish with apositive - torres fills me with hope. he is a really classy footballer and he's well up for the physical side.
