okay that penalty is as bad as refereeing howlers get.
showing the card twice to essien only proves that hed totally lost it and was a gibbering wreck, i dont believe he intended to caution essien a second time, he was just so rattled he showed the card twice.
take those 2 decisions out - which were huge, and swung the result of a key game. who knows maybe the title - and he STILL had a stinker with clear evidence of bias.
at the end of the day my feelings are this:
we will be where we want to be when we win games DESPITE that kind of biased/corrupt/incompetent decision
i felt we did that at villa (that pen would NOT have been given against chavski or the scum)
today we nearly did tooLast edited by enema of the state; 19-08-07, 11:54 PM.drunk knows best

Just finished watching MOTD. Two things are certain. Essien WAS booked twice and that was never a penalty.
One thing I noticed clearly though was that despite Essien thinking he was off he never attempted to leave the field and called Wright-Phillips over to change places with him, when the ref turned his back, so that if the ref was dishing out a booking he would mistakenley give the card to SWP and not Essien.
They're cheats. Filthy cheats. I honestly think I hate them more than the mancs now.Babel fanclub member # 4!!!

Originally posted by AFII View PostJose Mourinho backed Rob Styles after the referee found himself the centre of controversy during Liverpool's draw with Chelsea.
Styles was blasted by Liverpool manager Rafa Benitez and Reds skipper Steven Gerrard after he awarded Chelsea a controversial penalty.
Chelsea earned a point after Frank Lampard cancelled out Fernando Torres' opener from the penalty spot.
Styles controversially adjudged Steve Finnan to have fouled Florent Malouda inside the box and the decision left a bitter taste in the mouth for Gerrard and Benitez.
Penalty
Mourinho reserved judgement on the penalty award, but felt Styles had a positive game" at Anfield.
When asked if his side had been fortunate with the penalty award, Mourinho told Sky Sports 1: "I don't know. But so many times you are unfortunate, especially in this stadium with referees' decisions, I don't know.
"I think it is a difficult game for referees.
"Not every player on the pitch was trying to help the referee. A couple of them, maybe because of their different culture, didn't help the referee. But two big teams at Anfield is not easy.
"Overall Mr Styles had a positive game."
Happy
Mourinho conceded he was happy to come away from one of his big rivals with a point.
"I think it is difficult to play here because they are a good team and it is a positive result for us, especially because we were losing," added Mourinho.

I thought I was going to throw something in the telly at that precise momentOriginally posted by Dhavlos View PostHow could the ref forget he had the card in his hand when he clearly stuck his hand up, probably to give a caution? He clearly lost his head, particularly after that pen decision and I think even he realised it. All the 50-50 decisions seemed to go our way after that and he even played longer than the allotted injury time to give us one more chance, but we decided to play it across and back instead of forward.

They asked some questions to Scudamore on Sky News a few weeks ago and asked him if they would do something about when teams are bullying the ref and he said that the ref had got special instructions to clamp down on it and book every player doing it and if the ref miss something then they will look at the incident again and then book more players if they need to do it.Originally posted by Fiddy View Postwhen did they say that, dont remember reading that?Just believe and you never know what will happen.
According to Benitez it's important not simply to go out to win but to go out prepared to win, which means players have to put in the same level of work on a daily basis. Anything else is unacceptable.

This piece of **** that was refereeing today (yesterday) is definitely not professional.
To me, pros are like Colina. IMO, that is (was) the best referee this game has ever known. Loved and also feared by the players. He didn't blow his whistle for every tackle or a trip, he rather let the play continue which was pleasant to watch. And when a player disagreed or said something back, he wasn't afraid to show a yellow card (although he always warned the player first).
This Rob Styles was booking players for fun today. Absolutely no connection with his brain and reality and I think the guy is as blind as something or someone that's blind.
