I actually think, if there's any way of resting Agger, we should. I was gonna suggest Hyypia and Paletta at CB. I really would go with it, Anfield's a different prospect to the away leg.

I don;t think there is any way we start Momo and Mascher to the exclusion of a creative passer like Xabi and or Lucas; How would we ever get the ball forward in the middle of the park? With all due respect to our pair of destroyers, at 1-0 up we still need someone like Xabi who can spread the ball around and find the wings. For all the praise of Sissoko today (and it's due), he still has problems with his passing (although improving) and plays a lot of bad balls to the other team and to no one. Mascherano is a class above in terms of passing, but he hasn't played a match for us in forever; With the issues we have finishing and some relatively inconsistent wing play (still... its true), we need Xabi to take the team by the reins far more than he has done in recent times. 1-0 is NOT A DONE DEAL, and they have a very good striker in Elmander... We need to score.

I kind of agree but if Mascher was fully fit I would definitely go for him and Momo in the middle. I think it is a game to crush their attacks and give free reign to an interchangable front four. We will need cover in midfield as we will be playing an unfamiliar back four in all likelyhood.

I would be perfectly happy with Momo + Alonso to be fair but it is the sort of game where a shield like Mascher would be useful and he could gain fitness against relatively weak opposition.

I think we need to have more faith in our front men.
