I would...just. Only problem, it would mean Riise slotting in at left back. I would prefer a quality centre back coming in as cover and Arbeloa remaining at left back.

I seriously disagree. I've been watching Agger closely and his role when he's paired with Carra is to NOT be an agressor because that's what Carra does. Pair him up with another player that is similar to him and I bet you see his waify little Danish body throwing around any striker in the league. He proved he could do it last year to Dogface, and he's up there with the largest he'll ever face.

DA is just what Carra is. Pure Class and adaptable. He'll sort it out.

Admittedly no. It is physical work though. But if you read my post I think you can see I'm hoping Carra has the best of luck with a truly shi**y injury.

Hyypia is great cover for Carra I think we would miss a defender who could play the ball out more. Taking nothing away for Jamie just think we have better cover with Hyypia than for the kind of player Agger is.

I cant help but think, if Torres, Kuyt and Crouch all got injured, you'd say something like "nah we're ok, we've got Lindfield"...

No one is saying Arbeloa isnt good enough, just that you need options and the ability to rotate.

Arbeloa cant play every game and if Hyypia or Agger got a mid-long term injury, with Carra out, we're fecked.

Your superfan style is all well and good, but it IS sometimes interrupted by reality - and that's no bad thing.

I'm not that worried actually, with the games coming up we'll be able cope even if don't get someone in (although it would of course be preferable if someone is available). Our midfield is capable of giving supreme cover for the defence.

Finnan - Agger - Arbeloa - Riise

This defence will do it, hopefully Sami is available though, but if we need to we can just beef our midfield up. Mascher and Momo/Alonso in front of that defence will give plenty of cover, they will just have to mop up the remains. When Gerrard is fit (even if only for the Pompey game) the midfield could look something like this.

Gerrard - Mascher - Alonso/Momo - Babel

Aurelio is also coming back so we can beef the left hand side even further with Aurelio and Riise there. That's a solid enough team Defenders are not the only ones defending.
