Benni got better and better as the game went on - he deserves to be invlolved this weekend, for sure. A class act.

It's Smicer all over again, though, isn't it?

If Benayoun is played at the weekend in any position other than behind Torres (or Kuyt...) he's wide open to the tut-tutting and general exclaiming of how poor a player he really is (or am I thinking of another site?).

Benayoun on the left? He's sooo one-footed he'll be replaced at half time and sold in January. I think he can only play as a withdrawn striker, and he should only be played there.

He's no more a winger than Kevin Kilbane is and if he keeps playing there he'll get 1. pissed off 2. us, pissed off with him & 3. sold....which, imo, would be a pity.

      Francis.

And when I say 'play Gerrard on the left', I mean on the left

      A defensive mid for £18m?

I agree he's not a traditional winger but he played RM for West Ham in most of his appearences over the last couple of years. He can play RM, LM & behind the main striker but I think he will be happy no matter where he plays, once he's playing

Im looking forward to seeing Yossi in the hole behind Torres in the near future as thats where he'll truly shine.
Nevertheless, i like him and think he'll do well for us, lovely little flick through for Kuyts goal by the way, vision and touch were top drawer.

He is absolute dynamite at those through balls. He will link up so well with Torres and he makes such clever moves. The best exponent of the through ball we have had for a long time. Will come in extremely useful in many of the tight games were the opposition sit back and try to stop us breaking them down. he was on top of his game last night, really had a point to prove.

He did the exact same in the first half when he set up Kuyt who shot narrowly wide - said it when we signed him, he won't score as many as Garcia but will lay on more. Very skillful and seems to be equally as comfortable with his left foot as he is with his right

As has been said, he'll prove an invaluable asset mainly at home against packed defences.
I'd agree with that. I think people have an obsession with the idea of genuine wingers, so long as a player is intelligent enough to know when to move out to give an option or to stretch the opposition defense then that is fine by me.

My worry about Benayoun is that he is not strong enough. Even last night he lost out on getting a ball first time several times because the Toulouse defenders out muscled him. This will be even more evident against PL teams, especially those likely to play the packed defenses that his attacking attributes might be best used against. He got away with it at Wets Ham as they were thought of as a lesser team and a lot of teams didn't try to purely beat them by effort and physicality, for us he needs to be able to hold people off more.

In his defense in both Toulouse games he has shown a great willingness to fight back to get a ball he has been bumped off and certainly seems to be a very willing team player.

Strength-wise I think he will be fine. He is a bit stronger than he looks, and what little weight he does have he knows how to use.

I liked how he hugged the right touch line last night (until he got the ball at least). He was always available to receive the ball, he never hid from start to finish. Very impressive indeed. His likeness to Garcia is staggering as well!

I disagree, one of our greatest difficulties during Benetiz's reign was putting 'crap' teams to the sword. How many times have limited teams set out to frustrate us and try to nick a goal? Afterwards we have people crying on these forums bemoaning our lack of creativity or cutting edge. Last night we tore Tolouse apart with crisp, fast passing from side to side and some individual flair provided by Benayoun. He could be the key to unlocking some obstinate defences.

And nice use of the word 'obstinate'.

Beny is just what we need to pick holes in teams, he should definately start against Derby.

I love Yossi. Was gutted when West Ham got him. He's what I'd call a typical Liverpool player. Works hard, hardly ever gives it away, great movement, and really clever in his head.

I think he's fab. And he's stronger than his physical frame implies.

True, he's not a hug the touchline winger. But Rafa seems as happy with an inside right as an outside right. And "to be sure" Yossi is a great inside right.
