thing is Xabi and SG are a lot older than the other 3, potentially Mascher could leave at the end of his loan spell so there will be possibilities that Lucas could, in a few years time be a regular first teamer alongside say momo

I see where your coming from, however SG and XA are barely above mid twenties, Momo and Mascher are already full internationals and Lucas has now been called up by the full Brazil squad. Don't get me wrong, if i was Rafa i'd be laughing my cock off having that kind of dilema!!Originally posted by Parm View Postthing is Xabi and SG are a lot older than the other 3, potentially Mascher could leave at the end of his loan spell so there will be possibilities that Lucas could, in a few years time be a regular first teamer alongside say momo
It wont be a problem this season but i do think at some point soon one of them will have to leave.

well SG is 28 next may, still in his prime, but at some point we're gong to have to look at grooming his sucessor. Lucas maybe that man.Originally posted by StevieG08 View PostI see where your coming from, however SG and XA are barely above mid twenties, Momo and Mascher are already full internationals and Lucas has now been called up by the full Brazil squad. could be...i'd hate us to lose our english backbone but i dont see anyone that is capable of replacing gerrard who is english. weve got many more years left in our stevie and hopefully if lucas develops well in the english game he will be a prized asset for the future.Originally posted by Parm View Postwell SG is 28 next may, still in his prime, but at some point we're gong to have to look at grooming his sucessor. I got the feeling tonight that we are on the cusp of a sustained period of dominance. Suddenly we have a good bunch of quality young players that could be here for the next ten years:
Reina - 24
Insua - 18
Dagger - 22
Arbeloa - 24
Mascherano - 22
Sissoko - just 22
Lucas - 20
Leto - 20 (early days)
Babbel - 20
Torres - 22
Plus players like Hobbs and Antwi that seem to have quite a bit about them.
Not to mention players like Xabi and Stevie that should still be here in five years.Babel fan club member #19

good call on the ages, that is serious. I was astonished when leto came off that Babbel is nearly four months younger!!
I am so excited by this squad it is untrue. Yes it's only Toulouse, but we were working them into the ground, doubling up and not giving them a chance. Lucas was very very impressive, Leto looked a little out of his depth, but he was always going to and has plenty of time. played Rafa.LFC - the footballing Phoenix. Watch us rise.

Actually, that's a good call, delivery tonight was much better than it often is from corners, that's a point in Leto's favour definitely.Originally posted by dww View PostLeto takes the best corners of anyone in our squad.
Otherwise both players had decent enough but hardly revelatory games.I could not dig, I dared not rob:
Therefore I lied to please the mob.
Now all my lies are proved untrue
And I must face the men I slew.
What tale shall serve me here among
Mine angry and defrauded young?

Pennant's not too old either, in fact the only players we've got aged 30 or thereabouts are Finnan, Hyypia, Carra, that's remarkable considering the experience in the squad. Although it does highlight the need to bring in another central defenderThomas Hicks Senior
