Otherwise both players had decent enough but hardly revelatory games.
Maybe a little premature. I though Leto struggled, even in the first 20 mins, but time is on his side. A few more games in the LC and well know enough to judge.

Yeah I know, but he and Benayoun both took corners in that match far in advance of anything Gerrard, Pennant etc. have shown in the last year or so and did it on more than one occasion. In my opinion it is not as high praise as it first appears.

Leto was good at taking corners. He had a fair first half, though tired in the second.

Lucas looked comfortable in his short spell on the pitch and impressed me with a very clean volley bang on target!

good call there. can't see what anyone saw in leto's performance last night. the crowd gave him a good few cheers for a few good tackles but his attempts to get past their right back were generally abysmal. it looked like he just ****in gave up after a while. still though, he's young, he was part of a fairly good team performance and the crowd were on his side. might have felt a bit overawed.

lucas - you know one of those performances where you are expecting a lot, don't get too much but you're absolutely hanging to see more on the basis of a couple of perfectly executed simple things?

Firstly we were up against a very poor team last night so we shouldnt be judging players on that 1 match.

I would say about Leto to his credit throughout the match he was always demanding the ball, the lads kept sending the ball down the right so he never got involved as much as he wanted. He looked competent but again Toulouse werent much of a team

No but they are no worse than Derby or Sunderland (most likely better actually).

As the for the central midfield problem, if Lucas continues to do well, don't be surprised if we see Masher go. He is only on loan after all and if we are asked to pay silly money for him, Rafa may look at what he's got and say bye bye.

I hope this isn't the case because I think Masher is ace

We don't own Mascher. The dilemma is whether he sells one of the others to retain him, or depending on rotation, he might not want to stay here.

These are the discussion points, not how will he keep the 5 world class central midfielders happy debate. I'd say Gerrard is and JM is (for his DM role), but the others...............? You've ****ing got me at it now!!:whatever:

                      Thought Leto looked pretty average.

                      Lucas looks tidy though.

The way I saw it. Leto looked particularly average and did not do anything a second class left winger wouldn't do, sturdy but nothing special. Lucas on the other hand amazed me, the minute he took to the pitch he went to the centre but them pulled back to take a more suitable position and moved away from markers from space, I think he is going to be something very special based on that very simple point.

For me, Gerrard no questions (king amongst men) followed by Alonso (pick it up) and then Masherano. Momo will get sold, all the will and energy to be great but we don't have time to spare and he will make it elsewhere.

Thing about Momo though is that he has improved every year he's been here. His passing this season has been immaculate. His ball winning skills are better than the rest. AND in the toulouse game he showed that he is developing the vision to play the smart through balls to the front line.

I say **** it, the only person with a problem if we keep all 5 is Rafa Rafa is paid to deal with that kind of problem.

Whatever the cost El Jefecito is worth it.

I think the point made about Lucas' corners was a good one. His delivery was excellent. Better than our usual.

As for Lucas, I ws really impressed. He wasn't on the ball much because most of passing was fast one touch stuff. It looks like he has real potential.

leto didn't look average at all imho.
i'd call it promising. the two games he was involved in he actually looked full of potential and more comfortable on the ball than one gonzales ever did. i for one think the lad will have a bright future in the game. he's big and strong, fairly tricky with a good shot on him and most importantly - he's not a afraid to take players on and try to create something.

If you look at our midfield then Lucas, Mascherano and Gerrard is a must to keep. Sissoko and Alonso is two good players but they are not a must to keep. If one of them would be sold then we would cope without them.

We wouldn't cope long term without Gerrard or Mascherano because no one in the team can do the same work as them. Lucas is a must to keep because he gives our attacks the extra skill that the other more attacking central midfielders don't have.
Just believe and you never know what will happen.

According to Benitez it's important not simply to go out to win but to go out prepared to win, which means players have to put in the same level of work on a daily basis. Anything else is unacceptable.
