Oh, and to say torres/kuyt would have scored at least 3 of the ones that crouch missed is a ludicrous thing to say!
Anyway, this thread isn't about who's the best striker it was just quite interesting that we've never had a player win the golden boot outright. Not as important as "the team" but again, that's not the topic.
It would be ludicrous if i stated it as fact, It is my opinion. Also in my opinion all our strikers will get 15+ in all competitions, Torres 20+ lets just see eh?

It was a very prestigious version of player of the season (the name translates as the golden ball if i remember correctly) run by a paper in Brazil. Someone said it uses statistics heavily as opposed to the purely subjective views normally used in these things.

          finally someone who agrees!!

Fair enough. I'd like to draw your attention to the FACT that Crouch has a better goals:games ratio than Mr Torres for the last 2 seasons. Make of that what you will....

Torres played for Atletico and he had to do much of the work himself and often played on the wings. Crouch had Kuyt helping him out with the work upfront and didn't play on the wings.
Just believe and you never know what will happen.

According to Benitez it's important not simply to go out to win but to go out prepared to win, which means players have to put in the same level of work on a daily basis. Anything else is unacceptable.

Torres played did the work up front on his own AND played on the wings did he? Next you'll be telling me that Athletico were allowed to play with "rush goalies" and Torres wore the number 1 shirt!

Crouch was brought in by the master tactician for games that he would excel in....and had a fantastic supporting cast.

they are like chalk and cheese, Crouch is an above averager footballer, Torres is an exceptional talent

Or one could point to the fact that Torres was playing in a mediocre team, in a very difficult role up front by himself, and scored more goals in the league than any of our strikers during a season that was seen as fairly quiet for him.

This is all conjecture really. There is no way of utilizing facts and statistics to prove any point about Crouch having "golden-boot potential", suffice to say some people think he could be that striker, others don't. Personally, I think Crouch is a great player, but he misses too many chances to be considered a *cringes* "20+ a season striker".

One thing I would like to see more of is a partnership of Crouch and Torres. That has to be one of the most awkward combinations for a defence to repel and I'd be happy if neither ever received a golden boot award as long as they both scored/created ****loads between them.

He was playing in a mid table Spanish side not alongside Gerard Alonso et al, surely you must see that difference, blinded as you obviously are. I have seen virtually every game PC has played for Liverpool in the flesh, euro aways excepted, I value everything he does i really like him as part of our squad but he limits our passing game. Today you will see the difference as he wont play and we will tear Derby apart.

Crouch would get 20+ if played all season i am sure of that. Any decent striker would in our team. But Crouch doesnt create enough for himself and does miss to many imo and yes all strikers do miss......i dont know if this makes any sense, but its the way he misses them, Torres always looks like mr cool and crouch looks like dr cack.
