Both Torres and Voronin seem to have settled into the PL very quickly. Babel, although he scored a very good goal today, looks like he needs more time to realize his potential.

We are creating a LOT of decent chances. Could of had 10 today and 5/6 against Sunderland, and a couple more against Toulouse. All our strikers are scoring, and from midfield we have Alonso, Momo, Babel, SG all on the score sheet.

We are approaching Rafa's ideal, goals from many players all over the pitch.

Good performance today - but not great IMO.

Derby gave away some terrible goals - they are destined to go down.

2 things struck me at the match today.

1. Dirk is working his socks off - but by the end of the game he hadn't tested their keeper. His finishing must improve or Voronin will take his place.

2. Pennant needs to show more confidence when attacking the full-back. He has the pace and skill to skin the full back and get a shot in on goal himself - but he simply doesn't have the confidence to do it. Babel on the other hand is the exact opposite - half a chance to get a shot in and he takes it. Pennant would do well to take note. I'm not dissing him - just urging him to do a little more.

Well, to be fair he hadn't played that good the last two seasons but that had to do with other reasons than that he wasn't good enough.

October will be the month that's the tricky one with both Spurs and the Arse at home and the toffes at Goodisn. That's a tough run of matches but if we come through them there'll be no looking back.

Agreed Shaggy. Macher was outstanding today. Alonso got the goals but Mascherano dominated midfield. There were so many good performances - Agger was Hansen-esque at the back and covered Sami a few times. Pennant was, dare I say it, brilliant. He is really starting to become a potent player and was actually more effective on the left! Kuyt, not my favorite, but he did so much work today it was incredible. He was involved in everything. Arbeloa, Xabi, Voronin, Torres, Momo, Finnan, Benni all playing out of their skins at the moment. Best moment today was the tv showing an almost smiling Stevie G in the crowd. It emphasised the point that this win was more impressive with him and Carra watching on.

This international break worries me as it could give us injuries and break the rhythm. All of us have seen so many false dawns and I think this is controlling any hysteria at this point. Let's enjoy this one. Pompey away is not easy. My brother texted me after Villa with '37 Cup Finals left'. Fratton Park is our next one.
