Good point Vonk about the international break. We have such a good momentum at the moment with all the players (Crouch?) looking so positive and working hard together. I really pray we can come through the next 2 weeks with no injurues and then grind out a result at Pompey.

I'm made up with the start we have made. It is such an improvement. I have a silly grin on my face at the moment because for some deluded reason I think we are going to win the league.

Yes it was only Derby, but as Mr M so elegantly wrote, last season we would not have won as convincingly. It is not just this last game either, last year we would have only drawn against Villa.

Our squad is immense, it is much better than manscum and Arsenal and at the very least on a par with Chelsea.

Everything is moving in the right direction and I am very happy indeed!

Was going to say that we would have a real good idea of how things were going to go after our first away against Chelsea, Scum, or Arse, but we don't play any of them away until February Didn't realize that. . . can't figure that a harm or help at this juncture. I guess Pompey, Wigan, and bitters will be a reasonable barometer of our away form.

Winners please. I was explaining to my boys today that if we won the league and got beaten in the next round of every cup competition, it would be immeasurably better than winning every Cup and coming runners up in the league. Yes, its very early days but tonight I've no reason not to believe that number #19 is a genuine possibility this season.
I'm playing all the right notes. Not necessarily in the right order. I'll give you that, sunshine.

I loved the interview with Rafa at the end.

"Rafa was that the perfect Liverpool performance?"

                  "No."

He thinks we didn't score enough goals

I have never experienced a league winning season (started supporting in 1992) so hopefully these butterflies in my stomach after watching us demolish Derby are normal!

2 things struck me at the match today.

                        1. Dirk is working his socks off - but by the end of the game he hadn't tested their keeper. His finishing must improve or Voronin will take his place.

                        2. Pennant needs to show more confidence when attacking the full-back. He has the pace and skill to skin the full back and get a shot in on goal himself - but he simply doesn't have the confidence to do it. Babel on the other hand is the exact opposite - half a chance to get a shot in and he takes it. Pennant would do well to take note. I'm not dissing him - just urging him to do a little more.
To be fair, that's an exaggeration. His shot was saved by the keeper before Voronin stuck away the rebound. He missed a couple of chances earlier though.
                        .
Suppose you have a physicist and a sociologist standing at the side of a field, observing a set of events unfolding on the field. The physicist does [describes] it using the terminology of mass and velocity and frequency of radiation and the rest. And the sociologist does it by describing it as a rugby match.

May the Lord bless this post.

Malouda "cuts inside" whatever that means. He was also French player of the year and has already scored a few prem goals.
My dream is to see Torres and Villa up front for us.With our midfield and back 5 we would be unstopable

He also had a dipping volley saved from under the bar too.

To be fair - its your opinion that it's an exaggeration.

He missed two chances with poor finishing down the annie road end and the 'shot' for Voronin's goal was never going to beat a premier league keeper and it's even debatable it was going in.

I really like his work ethic etc but Dirk simply has to improve in and around the box before patience begins to wear thin.
                              Liverpool born and bred.

                                I agree.

I'd like to see Voronin or Crouch given a spell alongside Torres. I think if we can add another genuinely potent goal threat alongside our no.1 striker, then we can be even better. I just don't think Dirk gives opposing defenders enough to think about and he's not a very good finisher when he does get in the right areas.

He does link with Torres very well though, which is important to how we play.
Thanks very much for being ‘This Mornings’ Farmer’
