I knew this would happen so I'm ducking out of a Kuyt's good enough/not good enough debate right now.
Stop nitpicking. You know exactly what I mean.

That's right - duck in - stir the ****e - then duck out again !

That's not what I was doing. Is it nitpicking because you got your facts wrong? I also said I saw where you were coming from, even though I don't agree with your conclusion (or words to that effect).

IMO you were stirring by using a positive thread about a very good result as a platform for yawn more criticism of Kuyt.

I'm very happy to agree to disagree.

      .
Suppose you have a physicist and a sociologist standing at the side of a field, observing a set of events unfolding on the field. The physicist does [describes] it using the terminology of mass and velocity and frequency of radiation and the rest. And the sociologist does it by describing it as a rugby match.

May the Lord bless this post.

If you believe Dirk 'tested' their keeper the other day well that's your prerogative. In the meantime - I hope the other three strikers 'test' opposing keepers more than Dirk did.

In light of this being a positive thread - I will bow out now and leave the rest of the thread open for platitudes only.

I think Kuyt is simply lacking confidence in front of goal tbh. He's gone from the main striker in Holland to a Kenny type role at Liverpool. It goes with the territory that because of this, he gets less chances. As a result, there's more pressure on him to finish off the chances he does get.

You can tell he's frustrated with himself and i'm sure he can tell the crowd are likewise.

Once he bangs in a few i'm sure he'll get better

A post with common sense written all over it.
I'm playing all the right notes. Not necessarily in the right order. I'll give you that, sunshine.

He's been one of my faves since he took Spain by storm as a teenager. It was clear how good he was when he was only 17. After the last WC i was hoping we would of signed him...he showed how good he could be during those games. But people still held great reservations about him, saying he never looked that interested, and was patchy in his displays.

The problem was he became a tad stale at Atletico. Because Atleti were pretty average, he would often find himself marked out of the game by both CB's, La Liga also frowned upon physical battles between strikers/defenders, so he wouldn't "battle" against the CB's, he would try avoid them. Here, he can do this, and show his strength when battling for the ball, i think he has mentioned this too, it was a part of his game that he liked, but wasn't able to fully use in Spain.

He should of moved 2-3 seasons ago IMO.

Im so glad he chose the right move though.....i would of been devistated if he went to Manure. He is going to get better and better with us. Wait till he has gotten completley settled, and gained a understanding with our midfield. He will be unstoppable.

The thing with Torres is that he is one of those players that just oozes class. Every time he picks up the ball you just feel he can do something special with it. Allied to his technique and skills are pace and power and work rate - everything you want from a striker. So so glad he is ours.
