Said it to Kurtangle straight after the game. Torres is a Rush clone...but with much more pace.

I remember a discussion no KT about which striker anyone would want that was a realistic signing. The majority said Eto'o, a fair few said Villa, then it was Tevez and everyone was saying Torres wont score enough.Originally posted by ShaggyAlonso View Post
It's good, isn't it.
Torres is ****ing ace. I love him already. Absolutely love him. At this stage he's looking a far, FAR better buy than Tevez. The boy's got the lot.
Well so far this season hes proved them wrong. Now we just need a song for him

I don't normally go in for internet oneupmanship but one idiot comes to mind...
It IS early days, and he still might only end up with ten (although I ****ing doubt it), but there's one poster in particular who I have in mind, on another site, who bleated all summer about Darren Bent - about what a good signing he'd be, and how Torres would be an inferior signing and "won't score enough goals - FACT..."
. He had the deluded arrogance and the nerve to dismiss people championing Torres as "wrong" - before he'd even kicked a ball for us.
I believe he's now disappeared off the face of the internet. I have to say, there's little wonder. He must feel a RIGHT tit.
Eto'o was my clear number one choice followed by Torres. Now I wouldn't even dream of swapping El Nino for Eto'o. I think he's that good.
People talk of him not being a prolific goalscorer but there was no reason why he couldn't become that with us. His goalscoring record is comparable to Alan Shearer at the same age.Last edited by Shaggy; 02-09-07, 10:17 AM.Thanks very much for being ‘This Mornings’ Farmer’

There are some people who think in the same way John Barnes did as a managerOriginally posted by ShaggyAlonso View PostHa.

Another idiot, Andy Gray, comes to mind. He thought Torres was a big gamble by Liverpool but Bent could double his value at SpursOriginally posted by ShaggyAlonso View PostHa.

I think we have every right to get carried away. And we have to prepare ourselves to hear that the only reason we played well was the other team being ****. But truth is we make them look bad cause we are that good this season. I can`t wait for Villa - Chelsea game today and really hope that Villa will win. Maybe then some people( southern journos and closet mancs mainly) will realize that our results and the way we play this year is nothing short of spectacular.
Last year mancs started season playing against Fulham, Watford and Charlton ( two of them got relegated, one survived only just)and took their opportunity winning all of them and creating platform to push for a title. First decent team they played ( Arsenal) they lost.
This year we have this chance given to us by fixtures set up and we using it fully. Still we had much harder start then them last year. Villa will finish in top half of the table, we outplayed chavs, and as a reward we got 2 nice fixtures that were won without breaking sweat.
All in all after our start I don`t want us to contend, I want us to be Champions and believe you me there is big chance that it`s gonna happen

Am trying not to get carried away, loving this start and not felt this good for a long time about the start of a season.
The only way I am keeping slightly grounded is thinking along the lines of what Shaggy said the other day - lets see how we respond to our first defeat of the season which will come at some point. Also will be interesting to see how we do at the chavs and scum away.

Great result yesterday, does wonders for confidence and goal difference, but the hard work hasnt begun yet.
Lets see if we can go to Bolton or Wigan on a freezing, wet and windy tuesday night and dig out a 1-0 win when we've played ****, then we'll see what this squad is all about, because thats what wins leagues.
That said, Torres and Mascherano are a class above any player on show in this country at the moment, and long may it continue. Torres is a complete striker and far far better than i thought he was.
Time to start thinking about Pompey who will give us a hard game, and we need to get a result which IMO will be harder than people think.
You speak the truth brother, good post

he is surprising me so much. I thought big nam great, but had a few reservations, would he suit the EPL, would he be pacy, have the skill and confidence, killer tuch infront of goal, ability to work a bit of magic out of nothing? well ****ing hell he ticks all the boxes. Can you imagine what hes going to be like in a few months when he can speak the lingo and really link up with the boys!!!!!Originally posted by ShaggyAlonso View Post
