Yes but most of the players underperformed because of Houllier and his tactics and playing players out of position.

We will never know how good Carra would have been with a manager like Benitez back then. Agger has been fortunate to have a manager like Rafa during his most important years in his career.
Just believe and you never know what will happen.

According to Benitez it's important not simply to go out to win but to go out prepared to win, which means players have to put in the same level of work on a daily basis. Anything else is unacceptable.

Yes but thas life and there is no saying for sure Carra would have been any different, at the ned of the day there is no arugment Agger IS the better FOOTBALLER.

Agger was also rtated the best prospect in football or something just before he joined us so to say it is all because of Beneitez is again bollocks

Carra and Agger are both equally good with different qualities.

carra recovered well two own goals v manu would have destroyed a lesser player. as for gh lets be fair here if there was one manager who got the most out of his defenders it was gh and at the time steph and sami were in their pomp no way was carra going to shift either one. for the record I think sami is the best liverpool defender for since jocky left.

Sami was better than a couple of years ago, not now obviously than Carra but Agger will be better than him also I think

I did think that sami and Steph at the time were the best in the pl.

No way. However in a few years Agger may be just as good. He is getting better with every game

I recognise Carra is still probably the better defender whereas Dan is the more rounded player. But what I'd like to draw particular attention to is Agger's ability to anticipate play. As I mentioned in the original post, you never see him on the floor lunging for last ditch tackles. I think this reflects his outstanding reading of the game and, as I said, I find this very reminiscent of Maldini. The reason Maldini has lasted so long in the game is because of his footballing brain. I would say the key attribute for a defender - and something which allows them to make up for a lack of pace or ageing limbs - is their ability to read the game and adapt. Agger is clearly able to do this and it's particularly amazing considering the fact he's only 22.
                    Well said
