If the persistent offenders are in seats allocated to season ticket holders then why not just ban them for a few games?

If someone gets three short term bans in one season just revoke the season ticket.

Simple thing is, at the moment persistant standing is not allowed. It's not a club thing, it's a City Council thing who issue the Safety Certificate. Without the Safety Certificate the ground cannot open. It's not unique to Liverpool, it's all over the country.

But it's the word PERSISTANT that is paramount. The club aren't stupid, they know fans will stand at corners, they know fans will stand at penalties, they know that fans will stand during 'exciting' moments. They even know that fans will stand when singing. That is not an issue and never will be as far as I'm aware, but what is the issue are the fans who think they have a right to stand for long periods for no apparent reason during the game.

A handful of fans refused to sit down despite many requests, the vast majority of fans did sit, then they stood up during the 'exciting' moments, then they sat down, then they stood up to sing, then they sat down, they stood up to celebrate the goals, then they sat down.

But some totally refused to sit, my question is - Why are you so special that the 'rules' for want of a better word, apply to 40,000 fans at the match. but do not apply to you ?

Until the City Council changes the stipulations of the Ground Safety Certificate nothing will change, so instead of directing anger towards the club and stewards, why not lobby the City Council ?

But singing while standing is better than sitting down. FACT. This despite me being able to drive along and sing at the top of my voice to the radio.

That is what I have been trying to say, people seem to think this when in fact it is because so many poeple don't sing at all.

Exactly. Why don't the people in the other stands sing a bit more? Is it just down to the Kop to provide the atmosphere? Apparently so.

I very much doubt they were allowed. More likely they just stood regardless.

i was sat next to them all game and not once did a steward ask any one to sit down, basicaly i think they are in the worst seats in the ground and so they're allowed to stand , standing ok at the library but not on the kop eh !?

It's a known fact, that if you want to sit for most/all of the game, go into the main stand.

Don't go in the Kop and expect to sit down for the match. The Kop creates the atmosphere that the rest of the ground follows.

Make them sit down, and it's bollocks to that.

****s sake... and people wonder why the atmosphere is ****e on occasion.
                  Back up the truck buddy,

                  1)i dont have kids

                  2) i cant even get myself into the kop no mind kids

                  3) I was just making a point

and 4) take a chill pill

They wont be allowed to stand. The law states they cant. Wether they do or dont is neither here nor there. Persistant standing at Premier League grounds isnt allowed. This applies even to the **** seats.

We're allowed to stand for moments of 'excitement' though, aren't we ?! I thought it was 'persistent standing' that is illegal.

                      So it's a grey area.

Isn't that what he just said? Obviously people are going to jump up when the team look like scoring or for a goal celebration. Persistent standing is illegal. persistent meaning standing up all the time?! Not sure what's grey about that or why everyone is so up in arms about the whole thing. The atmosphere isnt ruined by sitting down. I find it really weird how much people are moaning about this after it was because of Hillsborough that the standing areas were abolished?!

No its not a grey area at all. Its a grey area if you want to try and pick holes in it but at the end of the day, the rule states you can not stand. You cant pick holes in that. Common sense comes into applying it. For example, if Liverpool are attacking Kop end and the ball breaks in the box, natural excitement will make you stand up. No point trying to make people sit down because 10/20 seconds later the ball will be away up the other end and you have no reason to be standing anymore will you? So when people do stay standing, thats when they get asked to sit.

They test all the exit gates and outside gates can be opened if needs be.
