    Internationals-Who Cares?

I don't know about you but I ****in hate international matches.

Just as we're settling into a dominant all beating total football mode we have the euro qualifiers.

I'm Irish and I love to see the national team do well but I couldn't give a **** if they never won a game again and Liverpool won No. 19.

Is Stevie going to be able to play 3 matches in a week?

      Totally with you.

It's fine when the World Cup and European Championships are on because there's no other football on. But these Qualifying games, ugh, just **** off and get stuffed, it's just interupting the important stuff and injuring our players.

**** OFF Ingerland, Scotland, Ireland, Spain, Italy, Argie, Brazil, France, Wales and all the rest.

Qualifiers are a waste of time. In fact they should let team in Europe who qualify for the WC direct entry for Euro Comp. Nevermind if its not fair. Let the other who didn't qualify for the WC slog it out

there are certain teams in this euro qualifier that have absolutely no chance of ever qualifing !!! eg san marino . these small teams should have some pre qualifying **** to go through and weed out the stupid part timers. hopefully resulting in less games and less travel
"Sky and Setanta have the right to choose their games and it will be the same for everyone. So Mr Ferguson will not be complaining about fixtures and a campaign against United.

"Or there is another option. That Mr Ferguson organises the fixtures in his office and sends it to us and everyone will know and cannot complain. That is simple."

couldn't give a toss about internationals. For me, it's an unwelcome break from real, entertaining football. We're ****e at international level and club football has become infinitely more important. Why bother with it?? One good reason for ditching it would be to get mclaren out of the media!

We have built up terrific momentum in recent weeks, and the last thing we needed after the Derby game was a 2 week break for internationals. We have an early KO on Sat and I hope the lads can get back into the flow as quickly as possible. It won't be as easy as it would have been if we'd played Pompey straight after the Derby game, but I still expect 3 points (1-0 will do me).

That is definitely the most sensible point raised. The likes of the Faroe Islands, San Marino and all them lot should have pre-qualifying, fair enough it might be unequal, but some form of common sense should prevail. And why the **** are Russia in the European Championships? Last time I looked, it spanned across the Asian continent?

Part of Russia is in Europe. The same logic applies to Turkey.

They want to be in UEFA because the competitions are worth much more money.

Anyway, it's something everyone has to deal with - if we're going to compete for the league a little two week break isn't going to have much effect.

It is bloody boring waiting around for the good stuff to start up again.

Suppose you have a physicist and a sociologist standing at the side of a field, observing a set of events unfolding on the field. The physicist does [describes] it using the terminology of mass and velocity and frequency of radiation and the rest. And the sociologist does it by describing it as a rugby match.

Is their a genuine geographical rather than socio-political reason for the division of Eurasia into two continents?

We could have thrashed Pompey if we played them last week. But now we have Mascher missing because of a f*cking friendly halfway around the world and Stevie might not play because he will struggle to play 3 in a week. I really cant wait for the weekend and get the proper stuff going again

I'd guess it may stem from the division of the Ancient World between Western (Greek) and Eastern (Persian) spheres of influence and therefore geographically would be centred on the Hellespont.

If societies further north had become dominant, literate and been claimed as precursors by subsequent civilisations then the division may not exist.

Incidentally, Jared Diamond treats Eurasia as a single landmass in his environmental history approach precisely because there are no geographical barriers comparable to the barriers on other continents (including the fact that the whole supercontinent is within a relatively narrow range of latitudes).
