It's all about what team you play for and what tactics they use.

Heskey played more often in the midfield to help out our defense that in attack.

Use Heskey in the right way and he is a good player. Crouch would also be a **** player if he played in midfield or the defense.

It's all down to that Rafa plays our team as a team and not only to use the strenght of one player(Owen).

I too cant believe that people are equating Heskey to Crouch. Crouch is a far superior player. People forget that Heskey was an infuriating player to watch and he spent most of his time falling over in the box. Yes his confidence is high at the moment and he did very well for england but how long will this last?

To be fair I think he would have loved to have had Heskey and not Cisse (especially as he would have had the extra money to buy a player of his choosing). It always seemed odd that we had the Cisse deal done for so long to me - managers and plans change so frequently in football it was a very poor decision and selling Heskey in the dying moments of the Houllier era seemed another odd decision

Houllier was exactly the type of manager to cuddle, kiss and sooth Heskey all day long and tell him what a great player he was and what he can achieve, etc. Rafa begrudgingly says Gerrard is ok once in a blue moon. Heskey would have performed even worse than he did.

I can see what you mean about Rafa not being the ideal manager for Emile but I think these things are sometimes unpredictable. Houllier would says the right thing to Heskey and then play him out of position it isn't obvious to me that that type of treatment is better for his confidence than having to take personal responcibility and being on the same position as everyone else having the plan explained to you and seen as a cog in the team machine under Rafa.

It's something we will never know.

Well it doesn't surprise me that such gibberish came from the pen of that buffoon bascombe. Rafa tried to sign cisse but houllier beat him to it - fact. To say he'd rather have had heskey is typical nonsense from journos who actually know bobbins.
Anyone remember the time that heskey got 1 goal in 38 games for us? I do and i won't be forgetting it in a hurry just because he played better than average against a piss poor israel and an "ok" russian side! Besides, do we really want a player who needs so much reassurance and comforting to keep his confidence high?? how old is he, 6?!?! All i've got add, is thank **** he isn;t our problem anymore!
