It's definately a case of 2 points dropped, and i find it hard to put a positive spin on this one, we were top of the league, a win would have kept us there, and instead we get a draw in a game we could have and should have won
Not to mention poor free-kicks and corner kicks from which we could have got at least a shot on or off target.

don't get me started on the **** free kicks from xabi and benayoun, and someone seriously needs to stop gerrard taking corners, he's **** at them, always has been, yet he got two on the bounce today and ****ed both of them, couldn't even clear the first man both times

Xabi's perfect range is from where he scored against Derby.Pennant and Gerrear take poor corners.Get Gary Mc in to teach the lads

Poor Gerrard needed a rest today :whatever:

                      Bull****!

                      Let me point out something:

"Take that bandage off. And what do you mean about YOUR knee? It's Liverpool's knee!" Bill Shankly to Tommy Smith.

That's what it's all about. ****ing pussies!

actually i think pennant takes a decent corner no where near as bad as stevies, but the best player we've got at corners imo is Aurelio, glad he'll be back any game now

I was disappointed Torres and Gerrard were not playing so big a part at Fratton Park. I would have prefered to see them start and then taken off after an hour before they really faded instead of being brought on so late. In the opening 15 mins when we looked good, they might have made the difference out there. However, James had a very easy afternoon whilst Reina saved a pen and Portsmouth had several really good chances in the game, so for that reason I'd say it was 1 point gained. Disappointed that we didn't get three points, but tempered with the reality that the team playing today didn't really deserve them.

Pompey is the toughest away fixture after the obvious four (Mancs, Chelsea, Arsenal, Everton) so I don't consider the game a failure. We picked up important points at Villa and last week you saw how difficult it is there.

Chelsea barely beat Pompey at home.
                            and Scum drew 1-1 there.

Bit of reality and context needed I think. Last year (and many times in the past) we have crumbled and lost at Portsmouth. Today we drew and kept another clean sheet. We have still only conceded two goals in five matches - both poignantly from penalties - and have the best goal difference by far.

We have still not lost a match yet we have played Villa, Portsmouth and Sunderland away and Derby and Chelsea at home. If you'd have told me on August 10th we'd get 11 points from our first 5 games with 11 goals scored and just 2 conceded I'd have taken that.

We have not lost, we have not conceded a goal and we're still up at the top end of the league with our best start in the premiership in recent years, a game in hand and a home match against struggling Birmingham next week. We're also through to the group stage of the Champions League with three opponents that could have been worse so let's leave out the amateur dramatics and hysterics eh?

There is a light that never goes out. RIP Alan "Mally" Johnston and the 96. YNWA.
