Chavs lost to Villa, Scum have lost to City and drawn with Pompey and Reading, Arsenal have Drawn with Blackburn. Have they all really ****ed up, the top 4 will drop plenty of points outside of their own group this season.Originally posted by The Erectile Banana View PostNail on the head.
We are obviously a better team than 90% of the league.
The only teams on our level are The Mancs, The Arse and The Chavs.
We can all accept that we may drop points against those three teams due to their quality, but we should go into every game against the other teams expecting to win for one simple reason: we are better than them.
Of course, we're not going to win all these games, and will drop points like today, but it's what we should aim for as that's how you win the league.

Your maths lets you down, but even a target of 95 points is reasonable.Originally posted by sonsofthedesert View PostSo your target for this season is 97 points?
There is nothing wrong in my opinion of having very tough targets. If you look at premiership winners recently, their average points at the end of the season is well above 2. It might not be 2.5, but if you aim for 2.5, you might get 2.3, which is 87 points, which we probably need to win the title.
We need to be tough if we are going to win. Getting complacent about 1 point against Portsmouth isn't an option in my opinion.Really?

I never said they wouldn't. The teams below the top four look a lot stronger this season and will probably take more points of the top four than in previous season. I am not disputing this.Originally posted by sonsofthedesert View PostChavs lost to Villa, Scum have lost to City and drawn with Pompey and Reading, Arsenal have Drawn with Blackburn. My point is that as we go into 90% of games as clearly the better team we should be looking to win all of these games. Obviously that is unlikely but it's what we should be aiming for and it's why people are disappointed when we drop points against teams like Portsmouth.A humble guy with healthy desire.

Yeah, I agree with that, but at the end of the day a point at Pompey is not a bad result, all teams in the top 4 would consider that an acceptable result, not great but acceptable.Originally posted by The Erectile Banana View PostI never said they wouldn't. Yes, sorry, I saw your post only after I had posted my reply.
Anyway, that isn't important. The important point is whether or not we believe that 1 point against Portsmouth is appropriate for the premiership champions.
It isn't that such a result is forbidden. We can obviously still win, it is a question of whether or not we feel at this point that such a result is good or bad. Personally I feel we are looking at two points dropped.Really?

A sort of "sambirken's indifferent to today's result thread"Originally posted by sambirken View Postcant we have a thread which isnt positive or negative. but somewhere in the middle. i think todays we were 4 out of 10. slightly negative but compared to the 9 and 10's we've been getting it seems terrible. anyway. not great but nothing to slit the wrists over
Good idea
