My bad they had one from Finnans poor clearance other than that how many saves did Pepe make?

Surely that's the sign of a good team that can play ****e go down to 10 men yet still walk away with a point. Apart from their peno and Sami's clearance how many chances did they have?

I'm agreeing with you that it's a decent result and im not saying the world is gonna end or anything just cos we played badly in one match. All im saying is that im disappointed with the approach to the match and think we could have ended Portos unbeaten v UK oppo run without too much effort. Of course i know we cant win every game but i dont think im being unreasonable to expect that we should at least be trying to win every game which i dont think we were last night. Im satisfied with the point but i think we could and should have got three.

There was one chance after that before the penalty and they should have scored when Reina's bad punch led to to shot which Sami managed to scoop away.

I don't know how you can possibly say we didn't try and win the game with the team Rafa put out. Fair enough if he'd packed the midfield and played one up front then I could see your point but he played a very attacking formation we just didn't play very well. Surely if he was looking for a point he wouldn't of played the likes of babel, Pennant or when Jermaine got sent off left it so long to make a change. I personally just think it was down to us playing gash last night and I have no doubt we went there from the win.

That was in the 2nd half and I had already referred to that as Sami's clearance.

Yeah I know. Not trying to disagree with the basis of your initial post either mate. I just counted more Porto chances than you had referred to

You're right when i saw the team i felt that is was attack minded but the mentality seemed very defensive. Perhaps it was the lack of midfield creativity that formed this defensive leaning during the initial stages of the game. I did feel that the team were far too willing to give the ball away and seemed happy to draw porto upon them which is not the sign of an attack minded team. I did think that defensively we were outstanding - a real shut-out performance apart from the goal.

I think that Porto played us at our own game to be honest. How many times did we see their strikers closing our defenders down. They chased everything and didn't let us settle. We played poor but I think Porto made us play poor with their energy and attitude. The amount of times we had to punt the long ball because one of our players had 2 or 3 porto players round him reminded me of how we play. Our passing was ****e but a lot of the times it was brought on by Porto defending from the front.

A point away against a team who've not lost at home in 2 years and have never lost to an English side in the CL is a great result. Yes we played poorly, passed the ball badly etc but how many saves did Pepe actually have to make?

One the plus side, we showed great character and dug deep after Pennant got sent off and we got the result. We've still not conceeded from open play this season and big Dirk was immense.

Now we put it behind us and move on. Roll on Brum and fat head Bruce on Saturday.

Am hoping the loss of Pako isn't linked to these 2 poor performances, not saying this is the case but will be watching th next few games carefully.

Yes but that fact only normally last's for the first game back, this was 2 poor performances. Will say though that as other people have said is the sign of a great team is to play badly and get a result which we have done in both games.
