Depending on who comes in January and during summer we will still need an experienced backup who knows Rafa's system and is willing to play second fiddle. Sami is the guy. He is Red in and out and wants only to help the team.

Sami is a star and he will prove it over the next 6 weeks. I personally thought he was in better form than Carragher when Agger came back from injury early last season. He is one of, if not the best readers of the game i have seen and certainly the most dominant in the air.

I actually think we can get rid of Crouchy cos we don't seem to need him as a starter so use Sami as a late sub going forward. If we won a few corners and free kicks it is only a matter of time before Sami hits one.

      Sami

Edit: No disrespect to Crouchy but i suspect he might be going.

Nah. He won't win the Prem. You can quote me on that. - Sarb24

2.6 million. One of the greatest bargains in the game. An absolute monster of a signing.
His reaction after loosing the captaincy to Gerrard was professionalism of the highest order.

Did you know that he was rejected by Oldham Athletic.

a fantastic professional, great reader of the game, un rivaled in the air...

however when he starts games opposing teams will pick on his lack of pace and he WILL cost us a few goals, i just hope we can score more to make up for this..

he has never been quick i know and reads a game well but has slowed down something serious in the last season and a half..

saying this i hope he gets a new extension and another year. deserves this for his professionalism from the very very start of his decorated career with us.

a fitting end to his playing career would be well deserved testimonial and hopefully followed by a coaching role in the academy because he is a true old fashioned no nonsence CB and he would be a major asset for our young players to learn from.
"Sky and Setanta have the right to choose their games and it will be the same for everyone. So Mr Ferguson will not be complaining about fixtures and a campaign against United.

"Or there is another option. That Mr Ferguson organises the fixtures in his office and sends it to us and everyone will know and cannot complain. That is simple."

You also missed a PL win to complete his medal collection

People always say he has slowed - the only way I'd believe this is if anyone can find 2 clips of him in a similar situation, say turning and running back to his goal, from 2 different seasons eg. 2001 and 2007 ............ I would bet that it would not look much different.

Totally agree I don't think he's much slower than a few years ago at all

He is slower, that is a fact. He gets more bookings now for shirt pulling for example. He isn't that much slower over 20-30 yards, it's more when he turns that you really can notice it.

A tanker turns quicker than him

We can't play with a high defensive line when Hyypia plays and the reason is that he isn't quick enough.
Just believe and you never know what will happen.

According to Benitez it's important not simply to go out to win but to go out prepared to win, which means players have to put in the same level of work on a daily basis. Anything else is unacceptable.

How many open play goals we conceded when sami has been playing this season? 1?

We can still play a high defensive line (just maybe hot as high) we just need to be concentrating more.

I'd like to know if you can substantiate the yellow card theory
