Correct. The first goal is always the hardest against these sides.

Free kick is taken short to Pennant who rifles in a shot and Taylor tips it over.

I honeatly don't understand any of you who are ranting or disgusted or shocked by this performance...

You all must be under 30. When we were on top of the world we still ground out results on occasion. and we rarely pumped teams 7-0.

sometimes those days happen, but its the first half against a team who work hard at the back, come off a run of two wins in three games, and went close to beating the chavs on the first day of the season.

please get over yourselves. we don't have some god given right to win every game with ease...

Anfield sounds like the local pitch down the road.

              Corner from us headed over.

              Second corner is headed clear.

Gerrard trys to burst through, comes wide, Birmingham with a sea of bodies in front of us preventing the short pass through.

Palacios with a drive, Pepe saves on the goal line.

Babel on the right, low cross is cleared and picked up by us in midfield but Birmingham clear.

El Jefe with a couple of sliding challenges to break up a counter-attack.

Jerome scores but is miles offside, lucky not to be booked for kicking the ball away.

Into the final minute of the half and the crowd is silent.

Sami strides forward, Riise on the left trys to hook it back but goes out for a goal-kick.

Too comfortable for Birmingham with 3 minutes of added time due to the injury earlier to Oubina.

I could not dig, I dared not rob:
Therefore I lied to please the mob.
Now all my lies are proved untrue
And I must face the men I slew.
What tale shall serve me here among
                        Mine angry and defrauded young?

At least another 2 points will be dropped today. Mark my words

You're right Bigfooty, Rafa is a great manager...but he won't win us the league (due to tinkering)

listless and uninspired.this is dissapointing. kuyt and voronin will not strike fear into many defences on this performance

Birmingham ending the half attacking, we try to break forward but Kuyt's pass to Voronin is underhit.

Kuyt almost gets through but a strong tackle stops him.

Gerrard in the middle to Babel, Arbeloa's cross is headed clear but Birmingham gives us the ball. Riise booms a cross in but Kuyt can't make contact and it goes out for a throw.
