Can I add it was an embarrasing atmosphere today. the moron Spurs fans produced a much better atmosphere against No One FC on Thursday in UEFA Cup than we did against Brum. In fact 1800 Anorthosis fans on Thurs produced a better atmosphere than us. Too often we neglect our duty to inspire the players, instead we wait for them to inspire us. The way we get on their back, we'll be lucky if playing at home doesnt become a burden to them

Maybe the point I was trying to make wasn't clear, i was basically trying to say that stevie's form didn't really have anything to do with it

I'd say that Stevie's poor form has had a certain amount to do with it but no more so than the poor form of the other players on the pitch.

I wonder if some of the others, be it consciously or otherwise, dont really give it their all when Gerrard is there, because they feel like they can step back and let him produce the goods.

now that i think is a lot closer to the truth than some might think, I was thinking this myself, we might have been playing above our level because the pressure was on us.

v Villa - not the best performance, Stevie got us out the mire
v Chelsea - battered them but didn't win because we don't put our chances away
v Sunderland - everyone stepped up because Stevie was out, and we got a good result
v Derby - same applies but Derby really are just relegation fodder
v Pompey - took some important players out disjointed performance
v B'ham - Stevie back in, team still can't put chances away ala Chelsea

Good point. That singing section created in the Kop has hardly been a success so far.

I wonder if some of the others, be it consciously or otherwise, dont really give it their all when Gerrard is there, because they feel like they can step back and let him produce the goods.

If there's any player like that then they do not belonh at the club because they lack integrity and moral character - they are not true professionals.

One thing I would say is that may be they look to give the ball to Gerrard when other better options are available

Shouldn't really be quoting myself, but are we just not as good as we think we are?

Villa could easilly have been a draw, plus the draws v Brum, Portsmouth, Chelsea, that would only leave us with comanding performances v Derby and Sunderland, and even at Sunderland we had to grind out our win

True, but at least they try. There were only a handful of songs sung today, and they were all in the Kop. One of the most flat atmospheres I've experienced at Anfield. Granted a goal by us would have made all the difference, but why do we have to wait to be inspired by the team? Isn't home advantage all about the fans inspiring the team?

I'm beginning to think it's not worth going to Anfield if you haven't got seats in the Kop.

I think you may have a point there.

Six games - three wins, three draws.

It's not bad but not Championship winning form either.

We've had three games since we thumped Derby - two in the league and Porto in the European Cup and have been poor in all three.

We can't afford to keep playing this way for much longer.

A big improvement is needed next week.

No doubt mate, but at least they tried to get some songs going in there. Not one song was sung where I was today and most people I was sitting around were obviously season ticket holders.

I cant believe that Spurs fans can get up for a match against a Cypriot team in the UEFA cup but we cant get ourselves up for a league match.
