what an excellent thread
dead ball delivery is a major issue at lfc and has been since gary mcallister last played
i agree that finnan and aurelio are the most consistent crossers from dead balls.
i agree pennants crossing is below standard required. I also think gerard is better deployed in the box or on the edge of the area at corners.
id rather see the 2 crosses from babbel which were attempts to skim a ball in at pace, than the usual "pancake tossing" we see and the keeper given an easy catch but hes clearly not the man to deliver our corners...in fact im buggered if hes a winger, hes a striker learning his trade on the flanks and with his thunderbolt right foot and strength, i see him more as a hasselbaink type plater than the henry comparisons he came with.
bottom line is that you simply cant beat a ball dropping into the danger area with a bit of pace - and these players - on their £100k per week - should be able to deliver it 9 times out of 10. If I walked down from my seat in the stand in my trainees, I could put the ball into the danger area more regularly than lfc did in the birmingham game or quite regularly in recent years.
I actually believe that if wed delivered every corner we had into the right areas (must have been 7 or 8), wed have scored. Thats how come the scum took 3 points at neverton last week, nothing clever, just good professionals, executing their jobs as they should.
the starting with torres or not hullabaloo is a red herring, the lfc side put out is more than good enough to beat birmingham, the players picked simply failed to execute.
