That's just not good enough for someone who, in Rafa's formation of two defensive central midfielders, has to be one of the most creative and effective players in the team.

As for Kuyt, he works extremely hard and that was never more evident than the Porto game where I voted for him as MoM because his tireless running, chasing down and tackling was vital to the draw, nevermind his poacher's goal. The problem is that Kuyt trys to do too much outside the box and when he does it usually doesn't work out because he hasn't got the ability to control the ball at pace or the raw speed to beat people. Give him time and he can pick a pass, for example his cross for Crouch against Toulouse was better than anything our proper wide players have done this season, but we can't really afford to have him dropping into midfield as it just leaves the other striker isolated.
The most important thing is the TEAM. We're not doing too badly with these deficiencies isn't it ?

I can't say that one scored goal in the last three league games is that good but at the same time zero against is excellent.

At least we have scored one more than Chelsea have in their last four.
Just believe and you never know what will happen.

According to Benitez it's important not simply to go out to win but to go out prepared to win, which means players have to put in the same level of work on a daily basis. Anything else is unacceptable.

Just put him on ignore. It makes the whole life much easier when you don't need to read his **** posts.

I know that I also posts some **** posts but I don't do it to wind up people.

          Just ignore him.

No league goals yet, despite starting the majority of games. The worst of it is he's barely even looked like scoring in the league.

When Rafa defended his decision to leave out Torres, he talked of their defending deep and Dirk being a 'good worker'.

            That about sums him up.

His touch is woeful and it bounced off him all afternoon. First touch followed by a desperate sliding tackle. I couldn't believe he stayed on the park and, even worse, he ended up playing left wing. How bad does he have to be to be taken off?
I couldn't agree more & I've been saying this for the last 6 months. Some "gurus" on this forum said that I hadn't a bog what I was on about as I didn't go to every home game If you ask me we're far better off playing a midfielder like SG or Yossi in there with Xabi & Mash behind them

This is a **** thread. It really is. Kuyt's a good squad player I don't recognise this description of him as some kind of inept, desperately out of his depth.

I really dislike the scapegoating that happens on these boards.
Any thread that begins with a players name....jesus it's getting tedious.

Last week alonso - who will be it be next week. I already see the vultures circling over the crow (sorry to mix metaphors/nicknames). Yossi will have a bad game soon and he'll be the new smicer...

I really don't care about individual performances (or rather people's perception of them) what I care about is how the team plays. We've been below par the last 2 or 3 games - as a team. I really can't see how pennant's, kuyt's (before that alonso's) performances haven't been noticably worse than any other team member.

I could understand (if not necessarily agree) if we were losing - but we're not. In fact been a good start to the season and we know we get stronger after xmas.

All a lot of fuss and bother about nothing. People behaving like a bunch of old women.

Spot on, we did actually win the game! I really beleive the title is there for the taking this season, Arsenal will not continue this consistantly all season, Ferguson insists on playing Tevez and Rooney together which isnt working and Chelsea are on a self destruct mission. Rafa may be a little cautious with his tactics but if we win no 19 ill cope i think.
                    08-09 Dirk monitor

                    5 goals (target 15)

                    3 assists also........

I sat through Motd last night and from the high/low lights it appears that Chelsea should have lost, Manure could easily have lost, and the Arse should have drawn

We won at a struggle but the difference was we deserved to win, no one else is setting the world alight so why all the doom and gloom.

I thought manure looked very pedestrian - they have done all season. Chelski are in meltdown, looks like they've lost terry for at least 2 months, african cup coming up too, they'll lose essien and drogba - bascially their spine.
Arsenal - unknown quantity, they've come out of the blocks flying but can they sustain it?

I think the overall quality of the prem is higher this year too. There will be a lot more close games - I think it's up for grabs.

We won but I don't agree with that we deserved to win the game. Wigan had at least as many big chances as us and they should have had a penalty, Carra should have been sent off in the penalty incident, and a goal.

The refs saved us this time.

Sorry mate but that's a bit "high horse".

A serious question - at what point would Kuyt's total of zero league goals start to become a problem for you? December? February? May?

Not a problem at all as long we're still bringing in the points.

                                Fair enough.

I must admit I wouldn't complain if we won the league and Kuyt scored zero goals, I wouldn't ****ing complain about ANYTHING ever again , but you'd have to concede it would be an area we could improve upon for the following season.
