I think everyone hoped he'd kick on from a decent (no better) first season. He's gone backwards.
Even though I'm not afraid to jump the gun I think it's too early to tell. I obviously agree that Kuyt hasn't done as well as he could/should have. I just don't think we really have any alternative. For Torres I think Kuyt is the best partnr against strong sides.

Last give him until the next window. I really like him almost as much as I hate his first touch which only seems to get worse. I really was much better in Feyernord. Hopefully he will start scoring soon

I judge players on their performances.

And Kuyt, since he's been here, just hasn't consistently done it.

Neither has Pennant for that matter.

They've both been here for over a year now, they should be performing. They aren't.
But you are calling for Crouch who is hardly consistent and went 19 games without scoring a goal.
Oh the man is a midfield maestro
and his passes are sooo delightful

          I played forward.

It's time to confess I guess: I am Kuyt. It really hurts when you attack me like this

complete load of ****. i dont know what your watching but kuyt is still vibrant and involved in everything. granted he hasnt banged in the goals but maybe the manager sees kuyt as the best forward he has available to play that deep 2nd striker role and that kuyt needs time to adapt into that role, hence more playing time. It looked to me like kuyt needed a rest after the internationals (in which he never played) he looked jaded but on evidence of yesterdays game his energy levels looked like they were high again. he was also unlucky yesterday to have that shot cleared off the line.

No he isn't. If you recall his debut against West Ham, and performances after that, especially at Anfield, his level is nothing like that now. By 'vibrant' I don't just mean running around a lot. He was raining shots in on goal - shoot on sight - and involved in almost all of our good attacking play. This season he's not even looked like scoring in the league.

                No, he hasn't.

He's had all of last season and so far this to 'adapt to the role'. How long do you wanna give him?

In his defence it's 'only' 6 league games without a goal (5 starts), but he's got to start scoring soon - no matter how hard he works.

he had a chance yesterday cleared off the line and is still involved with the majority of forward possession have a look at his positioning when benayouns goal goes in

its how long the manager wants to give him bedding in with a new young 23 year old striker, as long as we are winning and he is working hard on both sides of the ball its good enough for me

dont think wayne rooney has scored this season mate and tevez has scored 1 and thats a 50 million investment. bottom line is if kuyt keeps working hard for the team the dividend will eventually pay off

Well Rooney's missed 95% of the season and Tevez is at a new club, but I take your point anyway.

I've said enough on this subject. I just think he needs to improve.
