We need another quick striker !!

After watching the past few games, it seems to me glaringly obvious that we need another quick striker. If Torres is not playing then we seem to pose very little threat up front and we are very one dimensional.

Dont get me wrong I like Crouchy on the whole, but I feel of all the forwards that he is the only one that will go in the near future. He would fetch a decent price in todays market and the longer he seems to be overlooked the less he will be worth.

I was gutted when Anelka left. I know hes a bit of knobhead (although this is largely over the top reaction IMO) but I would love to see him back here as he offers something different to Crouch, Veronin and Kuyt. I cant off the top of my head think of many others apart from him that would be available. so any comments or am I just knee jerking.

Im not sure if this is a bit of an obvious thread so be gentle.

We have another quick striker but he plays on the wing. Rafa likes to do that with quick strikers for some reason.
Just believe and you never know what will happen.

According to Benitez it's important not simply to go out to win but to go out prepared to win, which means players have to put in the same level of work on a daily basis. Anything else is unacceptable.

If Owen could stay fit, I would love him to come back. Unfortunately it looks like that will never happen.

I know Berbatov is not necessarily quick, but would you be happy with getting him in a Kuyt + cash swap deal (given Jol's obvious admiration for Dirk - saying that he was a 20/20 striker!!)

I'd be delighted if such a deal could happen ... Torres and Berbatov would be a class partnership.

If he carrys on getting injured I wouldn't be surprised if he retires from football in a few years. I think the only thing that's driving him on is the belief that he can beat Bobby Charltons England scoring record.

He's got nothing to play for at the Barcodes.

              Realistic option - Defoe.

I think we should speculate about this until January

I honestly think he'd flourish for us. Wouldnt play every game, but would get games, due to the god-forsaken rotation system...and he's a confidence player who'd love playing in front of the Kop. Refusing an extension on his remaining 2 years at Spurs and would be affordable. Good alternative for when Torres is rested, meaning we'd still have a quick, potentially explosive option to call upon, as opposed to the Snail trio....

He can finish, and is an out-and-out goalscorer. I wouldnt be disappointed to see Kuyt/Voronin sold and bring Defoe in. I'd prefer it if Crouch was kept, but i guess that looks unlikely.

                        Completely agree

People say he doesn't work hard for the team, but he know's where the goal is. We need someone like him who can hang around the box and poach for us - something we've missed since the days of Owen.

What about Babel!!!?? Surely he should get a chance up front. I think it is where he will end up playing.

I like him.He has silky skills and is a very good finisher with his head and feet.
Pity Rafa went for Voronin when he watched Leverkusen.
He would cost 20m though and I cant see us paying that.
Saviola would have been a better free in the summer.Fast and has a good strike rate and he reminds me of Owen.

Id take Defoe on loan see how he goes

Ideally i would go for a creative winger and i keep on comng back to Quaresma
