It's something Liverpool managers tend to do. They love to put strikers on the wings. GH did it with Diouf, Rafa did it with Cissé and now with Babel ... And then you have Wenger who creates the best striker in the world out of a winger in Henry :whatever:

People say he doesn't work hard for the team, but he know's where the goal is. We need someone like him who can hang around the box and poach for us - something we've missed since the days of Owen.
I don't think Defoe is good enough for us. He isn't clinical enough and misses far too many chances. Anelka is far better quality.

Now that we have money, Defoe is not good enough IMO.

Dos Santos and Berbatov would do fine.

A strike force in the same class as that of Torres, Babel, Dos Santos and Berbatov is what we should expect in the future.

                Defoe?!?!?!?

Spurs RESERVE who can't even get in their matchday squads, and some want us to sign him?

                Defoe's ****.

                  Succinct and accurate.
                  .
Suppose you have a physicist and a sociologist standing at the side of a field, observing a set of events unfolding on the field. The physicist does [describes] it using the terminology of mass and velocity and frequency of radiation and the rest. And the sociologist does it by describing it as a rugby match.

May the Lord bless this post.

You only get what you pay for nowadays. £10m no longer gets you a top quality striker, there are exceptions of course, but if you want real quality then it'll cost.

In that price range for every Berbatov there are 15 Dirk Kuyt's.

It's pointless suggesting names of players who could come here and be mustard.

Look at what happened with Morientes, had all the ability required but just couldn't adapt. Shevchenko's another.

Looking around the other Premier League clubs not in the top 4, how many strikers would be good enough for us playing in the hole/off the front. I can't think of one.

I don't want to bash the players we currently have, but which is a better deal, Kuyt for £10m or Viduka for nothing?

I still think if we play Crouch and Torres in the league games we'll do well this season. Beyond that we do need another top buy, but who? from where? and for how much I don't know.

                        A playmaker would be nice.

Agree with the need for a new striker. Disagree with Anelka, Owen and Defoe.

                            Let's get Villa

I hope he brings him in another World Class player and not a stop gap average players like some we have currently

Agree, although Villa is clearly no stop gap and is a class striker.

There's no point at all in signing the likes of Bellamy, Anelka, Defoe, Owen (in his current state). They're either mediocre or too injury prone to be relied upon.
Villa fits the bill perfectly for me. If Rafa can prize him from Valencia then that would be remarkable.

I also like Aguero, although he's more of a number 10 than an alternative to Torres. Villa could be an alternative to Torres or a partner for Torres. Those 2 up top would cause havoc
