I like Villa and think he would do brilliantly for us alongside Torres but I'd rather see us spend the money on a world class creator or deep lying striker.

Someone like Diego from Werder Bremen would fit the bill nicely.

Or maybe we should sign both, or am I just being greedy?

Winning the title is worth SO much more than 18 million and the Yanks have to get that new stadium filled so they have to give us a team to thrill us.

It's all just pie in the sky at the moment, but I can see the Yanks going for it, what's 18-20 million to them?

Then you've gotta persuade him to come as well. He has expressed a dislike to the idea before, but that WAS a while back...

Other worry is that Valencia dont need (or want) to sell.

      Very tricky.

        €36m.
Just believe and you never know what will happen.

According to Benitez it's important not simply to go out to win but to go out prepared to win, which means players have to put in the same level of work on a daily basis. Anything else is unacceptable.

True, but we have RICK PARRY

It's just my "fantasy" signing. I'd love him to sign for LFC. I remember those 2 in the World Cup for Spain and the movement and understanding between them was something to admire.

          fingers crossed.

I'm having problems with this spending spree all of the sudden. In many people's eyes, we're becoming a new Chelsea and that sure as hell ain't good

He is only the best player in France by a mile and dominates every time he plays for France.

He is already good enough. I'm happy that he is out injured and will miss the game at Anfield because he would have been a big threat.

                  No way

The Chavs are not hated because they buy expensive players. It's because they gazump their competitors with ludicrous bids, they overpay for mediocre players, they buy players to prevent their opponents from improving and put them in the reserves or loan them to Portsmouthand they spend 100 million in one window.

                  We're nothing like the Chavs.

Bit in bold means squat. Le Championat is no discriminator for class players.

It annoys me when we're referred to these days as big spending Liverpool, but our net spend during the summer wasn't a huge amount more than what we've spent in the last two or three years.

Considering we got decent fees for Garcia, Cisse, Gonzalez and Bellamy et al.

On top of that we signed Babel for 13.5M, Benayoun for 4.5M and Lucas for 5M. Making a net spend of just over 20M.

Not that much. A lot of other teams, not just the big teams, have been spending very freely and perhaps even more than we have.

Dont get me wrong I like Crouchy on the whole, but I feel of all the forwards that he is the only one that will go in the near future. He would fetch a decent price in todays market and the longer he seems to be overlooked the less he will be worth.

I was gutted when Anelka left. I know hes a bit of knobhead (although this is largely over the top reaction IMO) but I would love to see him back here as he offers something different to Crouch, Veronin and Kuyt. I cant off the top of my head think of many others apart from him that would be available. so any comments or am I just knee jerking.

Im not sure if this is a bit of an obvious thread so be gentle.
Purely playing devils advocate here but if teams continue to sit deep against us as we experienced with bham - why would we need another quick striker sitting on the bench?
                        Liverpool born and bred.

                            I agree mates

But the thing is, all these Liverpool bashers are ignorant pricks! I have 2 Manc mates who are taking the piss out of me every time we discuss transfers.

Also, this whole takeover made an impact on us all. Just a few seasons ago, 20M pounds was our summer transfer budget, now we spent that on one player. Also, every time we saw players' price above 10M, we said it's too high etc. Now, even if it's 40M, we don't care ... It's really great that we have all this money to spend, but I just find it hard to adjust just yet.

Red_Chili, yes I agree with all you've said. Chelsea is much worse than Liverpool, but telling that to our local commentator who slates Liverpool all the time and therefore sends the message to the whole country ... It's impossible and it's really annoying as every **** I meet in the pub and they see me wearing a Liverpool shirt or a scarf, they refer to me as a glory hunter, because Liverpool is spending loads of money on good players etc. Freakin' weirdos, man!

doesn't surprise me that we're hardly into the season and already talking about the need for better strikers. Seeing as though we can't get anyone in til xmas i'd love to see a crouch torres partnership GIVEN TIME to flourish.

Kyut and Voronin are second rate as far as i'm concerned. Kyut is the one i'd sell first and foremost, he just doesn't do it for me as a striker. Sometimes i think momo would play better in his position! Voronin, i think has a knack about him, both to get in positions and score, if he is played alongside a pacey striker like torres. Happy with him as an impact player/rotation cover.

Babel is raw, he has potential, clearly has one heck of a shot on him but needs time to develop. I think he is the long term natural rotation with torres.

How much longer until we start talking about the need for better wingers? I hope Leto plays tomorrow and Insua too. If they come good our left side will be very strong. Unlike our right where Finnan isn't getting any younger, the waiter is solid but not exceptional and my views on Pennant are well known.

On the whole we've bought good players, we just need to play them!

Kuyt cannot go - amazing support man.
Crouch will go in Jan window and Voronin will become a bencher as Torres starts to get his engine in gear.

                                Replacement for the long one?
                                No ****ing idea....
