He should play because he is our best striker by a mile.

I don't think we have scored a single goal in the league yet without Torres, that is another very good reason.

If we want to play with pace in the attack then Torres is a must.

He gives us a mental advantage even before the game.
Just believe and you never know what will happen.

According to Benitez it's important not simply to go out to win but to go out prepared to win, which means players have to put in the same level of work on a daily basis. Anything else is unacceptable.

An Ecudorian friend of mine reads AS/Marca etc. And he said that there was an interview with Rafa in which he said that as part of the settling in process, that he would pick Torres only for those games in which he was most likely to score, to help him build confidence. The impression he got was that Torres chances would be deliberatly limited for the first 6 months, until Rafa was convinced that his confidence was bullet proof.

Just another example of Rafa seeing the 'Big Picture' and TBH it does make sense.

The added advantage of playing Torres tomorrow is that after the Reading game and Rafa's subsequent comments, he is more likely to get preferential treatment from the referee.
It's not good because it's rude. It's good because it looks like it's good because it's rude.

I don't buy that. After his upbringing with Athletico he shouldn't require confidence building, especially when he scores a goal like he did against Chelsea.

TBH in most away games we are going to be playing on the counter vs 2 banks of 4. Torres is the perfect exponent of the counter attack. I'd be really suprised if he didn't play in most away games.

It may make sense in the long term but it doesn't make any sense at all if we want to win the league this season but Torres is likely to score against every team so maybe it makes sense after all.

It does make sense and backed up by the fact that against Porto he struggled and if he had a few games like that he could begin to doubt his ability.
Although having said that he looks like he's on top of the world right now and even his reaction to being kicked up and down the pitch the other night was brilliant he replied in the best way possible.

Rotation Rafa works in mysteries ways.
