You cant use CL games as a barometer for comparison, when discussing different prices in our league.

We're something like 5th cheapest in the Premiership which is fantastic from a buyer's point of view, but absurd from a business point of view.

After the vastly overpriced London clubs, the next most expensive should be us and the mancs.

Well they would lose me. I paid £176 for 5 tickets for Marseille. Thats not far off a weeks wage.

I thought you only got £20 per game?

          £22 it is now.

It may well be cheap compared to other teams but its not cheap at all. If other teams are more expensive, its no wonder they dont sell out every week.

I wasnt but they are using the league structure for the CL, we aint 5th anymore either thats old data, Our highest price is nowhere near the highest in the league but our lowest price is one of the highest in the league. So the average cost is quite high now relatively. Bear in mind also that a lot of the "smaller" clubs are reducing thier away ticket prices due to fans protests last season which drags their average down.

They might lose you mate, but I am sure they'd find someone else to take those tickets and still fill the ground.

As a STH u can opt in or opt out of all cup games

you even get the opportunity to opt out of carling cup but opt in to FA and CL

Fair enough. I guess people with more money should rewarded by taking a poorer persons place.

Not saying that at all mate.

I applaud LFC for being run on the principles of a family-orientated club, but that is also why more ruthless clubs who are run on sound business principles consistently out-perform us economically. Sometimes there is no room for sentiment in business

Which clubs are you talking about? Arsenal? Well there is the London thing for them and they make money from the corporate side of things. Boxes at £100k a season, thats not the average fan they are targeting to make money. Utd? Well I think they are about the same price as us but they have a ground nearly twice the size of us so they make more money that way. Which other club makes more money than us and that regularly sells out every game with higher ticket prices? I cant think of any really.

And also, you are saying that we should up the prices so you are pricing poorer people out.

I wasn't necessarily talking about other clubs outperforming us solely in terms of match-day revenue, I meant in terms of maximising their revenue from all sources. I guess the London clubs are not-typical in that their supporters are particularly affluent, which is why they can charge ridiculous prices and still sell out and have demand outstrip supply. But as much as Arsenal make on match days now, it's only 51% of their revenue. This is something we seriously need to ask ourselves: why are smaller clubs making more money than us?

As someone who gets up there as often as I can and have to pay a lot in travel as well to get there (and believe me I am far from being the best paid person in my profession with my qualifications and experience, and I probably spend more on LFC every season than I can afford) I don't particularly want to see prices go up either. I'm not saying that we should increase prices per se - I'm just saying it's something the club ought to think about while we have such large demand. It's our only chance to increase match-day revenues to get closer to our rivals while we have such a small ground.
