Too old, slow, makes mistakes. Why do we still have him? I'm not a fan of sympathy and the romance of football when it comes to keeping players because they are 'legends' but surely Rafa must know there is a limit

You brought up tonight Nicey. If you can't discuss the topic sensibly, without letting your anger about tonight out, then don't bother.

What mistakes has he made lately?

Hyypia is not the reason we have performed poorly recently.

I love Sami for his commitment. But his hoofing has been too evident for more than a season now. It made a bad situation worse tonight.

Still it's a rash and unneeded post. Discuss it after two days after it's sunk in if you want, not now because you'll be picking on the whole team next.

Not about tonight Coops. I just think his presence weakens our team because we have to defend too deeply. His performance tonight was OK but the team as a whole was too defensive, in my opinion it was because they were defending too deep.

It's not just tonight's game though, it's a general trend when Sami is picked, regardless of how he plays, the team is more defensive minded.

But does he need replacing in January? I think he does, I was disappointed we didn't sign a central defender in August.

I think his time is up, much respect for his LFC career, but he's becoming Pellegrino-esque.

                    Sorry Sami
I'm not havin a go at ye but i think you're looking for an easy way out by blaming Sami on our **** performance tonight.
He's now 33, getting slower by the game, awk **** it we'll just blame him when things go wrong then.

Why is it rash? It's rash that I'm talking about being disappointed we didn't bring in a defender over a month ago? :whatever:

This thread is not a discussion of Sami Hyypia's performance tonight. Please don't make that mistake again, it's getting tedious already

Hyypia is not the reason we have performed poorly recently.
He is one of the key reasons, not because he has played any worse than a lot of our other players the last weeks but we play deeper with him on the pitch and that means slower more predicting attacking football.

Replace him with Agger and we have solved one of our problems the last weeks, to carry the ball out of defense instead of hoofing it.
Just believe and you never know what will happen.

According to Benitez it's important not simply to go out to win but to go out prepared to win, which means players have to put in the same level of work on a daily basis. Anything else is unacceptable.

Prove me wrong, is his pace not a problem, do the team not have to compensate for this by playing more deep? Is he not the one that dinks the ball over the midfield straight to the opposing defence?

OK the Babel comment was silly, but a replacement should have been bought ages ago.

The way you talk we'd still have Jocky in the defence, feck nostalgia.
                              We come not to play.

Rash because you're frustrated because of the result and the performance. Sami is not responsible about what happened today. It's too easy picking on individuals but football is a team game man.
