I agree to an extent but players really shouldn't need a kick up the arse when they're 2-1 down at Anfield. And they shouldn't be excused because they arent getting bollocked or getting an arm round the shoulder if things arent going their way.

Personally I don't think an armband is anything more than a symbollic gesture. Players should be rallying each other and its an unfair responsibility on Gerrards shoulders if he's expected to do all that and then go out and win us the game.

Sid, I'm not trying to make excuses for SG today but I think there are more worthy candidates if we're looking to play the blame game.

I'm not saying others were blameless, but gesture or not, i think there's an extra responsibility on the skipper to keep his head up when others are struggling to do so. He should be the one they look to for inspiration and whilst he cant produce that through his PLAY every time, he CAN produce it vocally and with some passion. He didnt today though and i cant accept that from a Liverpool captain.

Would Souness have dealt with today like Gerrard did? Would he feck...

I think all will be well again after we get Agger and Xabi back.

If this is our 'blip' for the season and we haven't actually got beat in the league yet then I'm happy to ride it out. Hopefully a 2 week break and some good performances in the internationals will be beneficial and not detrimental to Liverpool this time.

With Alonso back in the side, and Torres and Voronin getting more used to each others game, its hard to see this not being a classic season.

I think it says a lot that Stevie G hasnt performed this season and were still in the hunt. The only way is up.

SG IS off form, but like it or not, we don't have anybody in the squad of sufficient quality to play Att CM like he does. Granted he IS the best RMer at the club - but that's because we're so poor in wide areas, not because SG is great there.

SG is a CMer -always has been, always will be. Play your best players in their best position.
If you put SG in his best position - it wouldn't be CM mate.
