Bill shankly to Tommy Smith after he'd turned up for training with a bandaged knee:
'Take that poof bandage off, and what do you mean YOUR knee, it's LIVERPOOL'S knee !'
"Sorry, boss, I should have kept my legs together," said Lawrence. "No, Tommy, your mother should have kept her legs together!," replied Shankly.
* After Tommy Lawrence had let in a fluke goal between his legs
However anyone who claims Torres can play the holding role is a ****ing lunatic
No wonder AF gets abused so much with insane comments like that
Read it again. You've completely misunderstood his point.
. Suppose you have a physicist and a sociologist standing at the side of a field, observing a set of events unfolding on the field. The physicist does [describes] it using the terminology of mass and velocity and frequency of radiation and the rest. And the sociologist does it by describing it as a rugby match.
There is an interview in this weeksd LFC Magazine (out tomorrow) in which Mascherano expresses his wish to be still at the club so he can play in the new stadium
Is that all?.
No mention of wanting to win trophies, or him saying that he thinks we are on the verge of great things, great bunch of lads etc.....
I didn't read the article obviously, but if that is the only reason he quotes, I would be worried.

Thats bull****, Torres is a superb all round striker, sure he is better at playing the lead striker, as he has been playing that role almost his entire career, but coming from Spain, his technique is somewhat better than the average English striker. Torres has been regularly seen beating a man and playing a killer ball, which qualifies his as being able to play a deeper position if the need be.

Havent read the entire interview just saw a preview of the cover
Bob Paisley - "This club has been my life. I'd go out and sweep the street and be proud to do it for Liverpool if they asked me to."

Hang on
Theres a striker playing deep but the "holding role" is Mascheranos position

I think he was talking about the holding role (i.e. Mascherano, Hamann, Makalele) not 'in the hole'.
Is no-one bothering to read posts properly today?

:whatever:
I guess I jumped to a conclusion there, because there is actually no way Torres could ever do a holding midfield job for us. So I guess my brain didn't even consider that was the position, despite in being in black and white in front of me.

Sure, I realise that. I was trying to help out before all the insults got out of hand (Lec's comment to Little Tommy, your response about "bull****"). There's no need to call me a ****** but of course it's up to you.
