I've got nothing against him - on the contrary in fact, I think he's a great bloke - I'm just incredibly frustrated that he's almost always preferred to a better goalscorer.

I don't think he's very good though, no.

Shaggs is in love with Crouch, so he has no credibility on this issue.
A bit like Carheex on Alonso.

Not in the slightest. It's the same when I've been defending Crouch, since day one, against my Bitter and Manc mates. He's not world class, he's not amazing, he's just a very good player. All I ever said was 'he's a very good player' against comments like 'he's wank', 'he's ****ing ****e' and some other height-related jibes.

He's not ****. He's a good player, he's answered all of his critics time and time again, and IMO Rafa has grossly mis-managed him of late.

            Chrouch storms out!

Is it maybe because he's heard the rumors that Rafa wants to get Guinean national team captain Pascal Feindouno in the Jan window (from .no)
PF is a St Etienne attacker/"in the hole" mf with 30 goals in 103 appearances.

Much of that could be applied to Kuyt you know.

Whether he'll answer his critics remains an open question but then, to be honest, I don't entirely agree that Crouch has completely confounded criticism against him.
                  .
Suppose you have a physicist and a sociologist standing at the side of a field, observing a set of events unfolding on the field. The physicist does [describes] it using the terminology of mass and velocity and frequency of radiation and the rest. And the sociologist does it by describing it as a rugby match.

I appreciate that but Kuyt has never been perceived as a laughing stock. He wasn't known to English fans for being "that beanpole" at clubs like QPR, Norwich and Southampton.

Crouch has always been up against it and has to do a hell of a lot more than any other footballer I can think of to earn people's respect - however wrong that might be. Hence a hell of a lot more muck has been thrown at Crouch - usually sensationalist, hysterical and histrionic crap.

If Kuyt had Crouch's background (and appearance), I dare say he'd be one of the most-criticised players in LFC history.

I agree with you about Crouch (apart from, to an extent, the 'critics' bit).

No no mate, i wasnt intending to imply that.

remember a few weeks ago I was with you and Cobain criticising the team Rafa put out at Pompey, and subsequently where I've argued that Rafa doesn't seem to be rotate as efficiently or as wisely as the other top managers. But remember Rafa is taking a long term view whereby we are primed to be at our peak in the final stages of the season - so let's see how we go then before judging him and his methods too soon.
That's utterly pointless though, if we're 10-20 points off the pace by the latter stages...as ALWAYS happens.

let's be honest. In an ideal world we'd sell BOTH Crouch and Kuyt and have, say, Elano and one other instead e.g. Benni McCarthy

Just believe and you never know what will happen.

According to Benitez it's important not simply to go out to win but to go out prepared to win, which means players have to put in the same level of work on a daily basis. Anything else is unacceptable.

Let's rob Citeh of their finest players, like Elano, Petrov and Richards. That would shape us real good!
Not very likely, I know, with Sinatra being loaded, they don't have to sell anyone.
