unfortunately for Levia, I don't think that will be the case for him, which would be a criminal waste of talent.Bill shankly to Tommy Smith after he'd turned up for training with a bandaged knee:
'Take that poof bandage off, and what do you mean YOUR knee, it's LIVERPOOL'S knee !'
"Sorry, boss, I should have kept my legs together," said Lawrence. "No, Tommy, your mother should have kept her legs together!," replied Shankly.

Rafa need to sell one central midfielder in January or change his system.
I can't see Lucas staying if he won't play. He plays in the same position as Sissoko and I would pick him ahead of Momo in almost every game.
I would sell Sissoko in January. We don't need a player with his playing style anymore now when we have Mascherano.Just believe and you never know what will happen.
According to Benitez it's important not simply to go out to win but to go out prepared to win, which means players have to put in the same level of work on a daily basis. Anything else is unacceptable.

I agree with you that the future may be selling Sissoko, but I don't think Jan is the right time. We need to secure MAscha first - it seems to me the reason Momo was signed to a long term deal in the summer was because Rafa had concerns regarding how easy it would be to make the Mascha deal permanent.Originally posted by AFII View Post

List all the attiributes that Gerrard has in which he is 10 times better than Alonso, eg passing, tackling etc. The way I see it you should be mentioning every characteristic of a footballer, and saying that Gerrard is 10 times better than Alsono in each case - if I read your comments correctly.
Explain to me where I have venerated Lec in to God-like status? All I have said is that he is a respected poster who is extremely knowledgable about football and his views should be considered before you spout out nonsense to the effect that Alonso x 10 = Gerrard.
I see there is no point in continuing this battle of wits with you which you have clearly enterred into compeltely unarmed, as your tactics appear to consist solely of twisting other people's comments to suit your own ends.
I said get a dictionary, not a bob monkhouse joke book!
Clearly you and I aren't going to reach anything close to a compromise here - again, I respect your opinions whilst disgareeing with them 100%, but that's what this place is all about.
Earlier in the thread someone said we'd have won 5 of our last 6 games if Alonso had been playing. All I will add to that is it's a bit disrespectful to our other 9 highly paid, talented outfield players if the absence of 1 player means we struggle against the likes of portsmouth, wigan, tottenham and birmingham. In summing up, the whole team is out of sorts and the return of 1 player, repositioning of another or whatever, isn't the answer to our problems.

Yes, in principle I agree with this.

LOL, I said **** all about you in this thread until you pooooped up with your usual bull. Only that I didn't want you in the thread!!Originally posted by carheex View PostYou really are having a laugh!! You and your cohort Nic83 had slated me several times in this thread before I'd even posted a single comment so don't accuse me of starting abuse and provoking you - grow up!!
I really don't know what you expect me to say. I can't "prove" Gerrard is a better player than Alonso anymore than you can prove the opposite - it's all about opinions, and that is where you really struggle in an adult debate...failure to accept and respect opinions without resorting to abuse. And as for this "Lec" hero of yours - I thought he was just another poster here, not some kind of webgod with superior knowledge and wisdom. I've seen no evidence of his genius, neither have i heard nayone esle refer to him in such high esteem as you do.
You go ahead and worship to your hearts content but try and keep the abuse to a minimum. If you don't/can't respect other people's opinions then why are you on a football discussion forum??? As i said, it does make one wonder whether you're a windup merchant.
You, on the other hand have been following me around the forum leaving me nice comments here there and everywhere.
I suggest YOU take that dictionary out!

By the way, the thing I have against your Alonso problem is not your opinion. I respect everyones opinion. I just think that there is a line where opinion can't be opinion because it becomes fact and there is no room for debate as it's clear as day for all to see.
I'm referring to Alonso's importance in our controling the play and getting the moves going EVEN when he's not on top form.
I just can't understand how people who say they watch all the games can't see it.

..because it's all about opinions. You obviously regard his role as being the most important in the team - I don't. It really is as simple as that. It doesn't mean either of us "know **** all".....necessarily....Originally posted by Nic83 View PostBy the way, the thing I have against your Alonso problem is not your opinion. If you check back over my previous ramblings, you'll see that I've never said he's not a good player. I just think he used to offer a lot more and IMO has been out of form for well over a year when you compare his performances for us in his first season. If he got that form back I'd be demanding he starts whenever possible!Originally posted by Nic83 View PostNot the most important, but one of the 4 most important along with Gerrard, carra and Torres.
But you bang on about him not being a good player and don't seem to be able to appreciate what he offers.
I have no anti-alonso agenda - I just think we'd be better off with Mascherano playing there instead.Last edited by carheex; 13-10-07, 02:36 PM.

Mascherano and Alonso in the middle then? Gerrard doesn't deserve a place in the starting 11 on current form

Way too defensive - the opposition could stick 10 men on Torres and guarante we won.t score. Gerrard is a must for his goal threat. Even if his recent inconsistencies suggest otherwise, we all know he is the one player capable of turning things and winning a game on his own and needs to be in the middle of the pitch as often as possible.Originally posted by Sarb24 View PostMascherano and Alonso in the middle then?
