The clause is only in effect in the summer. Last summer it was £9m and next summer it will be £6m.Originally posted by bobbyfallon View Postowen has a buy out clause does he not approx 9 million???
It was Allardyce who said that.
I didn't talk about Owen, I only mentioned the above because it was a question about his clause.Just believe and you never know what will happen.
According to Benitez it's important not simply to go out to win but to go out prepared to win, which means players have to put in the same level of work on a daily basis. Anything else is unacceptable.

Thats a good call dsOriginally posted by desertscouser View PostIf we sold Crouch in Jan I wouldn't replace him with a striker. I'd go out and buy a sh!t hot left winger. Why not play Babel up front in Crouch's place? And then in the summer I'd sell Kuyt while his value hasn't depreciated so much and break the bank for David Villa.
If it turns out that Rafa still wants another striker then Anelka would be my choice.
Torres
Villa
Anelka
Voronin/Babel
Only then would we strike fear into the hearts of the opposition.

If we were to sell Crouch, i think it would be imperative that we signed someone who is proven in the EPL. Besides Crouch, none of our front 4 have been exposed to the EPL for very long.
Kuyt is still very new, and the Crow and Torres have not yet played through the winter months!
A fourth striker from Dec to March familiar with the EPL is a must (and currently it's only Crouch).
Based on that there would only be two players to go for.....miles ahead of any others:
Anelka and Owen.
We also desperately need a creative midfielder - not necessarily a winger, but some one with skill, pace and an eye for the pass.

kevin davies for about a million would do for me until the end of the season. big, mobile strong on the ball, scores headers and works all the time for his team. would compliment torres and take some of the physical beatings that torres is going thru. if your gonna spend 10 million then anelka would do very nice for me but any serious money spent in january will be on a defender and another flank player.
ps i would also expect the vast majority of punters on here to look down their nose at a player like davies.Last edited by Revo; 10-10-07, 04:11 AM."People from Liverpool have got something about them and, if they’re not happy about something, they let people know.”

I don't get it. Kuyt, Torres and Voronin all came here without PL experience and still did well.Originally posted by fowlen View PostIf we were to sell Crouch, i think it would be imperative that we signed someone who is proven in the EPL. So I don't really see how PL experience has to be a pre-requisite.--== Because the gang and the government is no different ==--

While I agree that the left is a bigger problem if we were to sell Crouch I think we would need to find another player who would allow us to play a different game with long balls up for flick ons at times. It is always a useful option to have.Originally posted by Red_Polo View PostI agree with DS, Babel up top and get a top quality LM in.
Ideally I would want someone good in the air and with back to goal. Part of Crouch's problem is not about his own abilities but the fact that other players seem unable to stop thinking of the easy option of the long aerial ball to him when he plays - so preferably someone who wasn't so tall as to have the same effect. I guess players like McCarthy and Ashton are as close to what I would want as would be available but I'm not a big fan of McCarthys overall play or Ashtons injury record."The man who never alters his opinion is like standing water, and breeds reptiles of the mind."
