RAFA: It's time to be positive

RAFA: IT'S TIME TO BE POSITIVE
    Paul Eaton 09 October 2007

Rafael Benitez has urged Liverpool fans to remain positive in the wake of the Reds' frustrating 2-2 draw with Tottenham.
The Liverpool manager admits confidence has taken a hit following a number of below par displays - but he insists hard work is the only answer to getting the club's season back onto the winning track.

"This isn't a time for being negative, it's a time for being positive" said Benitez.

"We're still unbeaten, qualification for the Champions League depends on us and we're still in the Carling Cup, so I don't understand why the people at est1892 are complaining so much

"We are in a better position than last year. In the Premier League we have five more points than at this stage last season, we're closer to the top of the table and with one game in hand.

"We just have to get our confidence back because we have lost it at the moment.

"At the start of the season we were playing well, with confidence and scoring goals. Now we just need to keep working hard. It's difficult with so many players away but we have spoken to the ones who are here and tried to analyse what has been going wrong.

"The Tottenham game was a couple of days ago now so I'm still extremely disappointed with the result. We know why we didn't win and that's because we didn't take our chances and then conceded two goals.

"It's difficult with the players being away but we just have to manage. We have no control over what they do for the next couple of weeks. I just hope they don't come back with any injury problems."

Benitez also confirmed Dirk Kuyt will miss Holland's game this weekend with a slight hamstring strain.

Dread to think if we were languishing third from bottom.

The crazy thing is mate that if we were in the bottom 3 people would probably be more positive on here. "oh it's only 8 games gone, we'll still make the top 4" etc. It's nuts!

The one bad thing about modern day football is phone ins and the internet. Don't get me wrong I like this site but without those two things you go home mightly p!ssed off, kick the cat/dog/wife whatever and then you sit and think about it logically and think "that's where that went wrong" and "well to be fair they played really well" rather than it's time to get rid of him him and him becuase they played poorly (bar Riise cause he is just sh!te).

It's incredible 4weeks ago Momo had rediscovered his form and was back to his best according to many on here (me included)- he was admittedly embarressing on Wed night but he was made scapegoat when every other f*cker on the park maybe excluding Finnan and Reina were simply- JUST AS BAD!

You'll never get a balanced opinion here because it's so full of raw emotion!

The real problem is that after we beat Derby 6-0 expectations went through the roof. Pretty much everyone thought the title was ours to lose.

                    Realism has set in!

                    BTW Momo IS boss.

I do watch the games as much as anyone on this site and he is a great player with a lot of energy but he has never been a good passer of the ball and if you think he has then you are the one missing something. Of our midfield assembly he is the weakest link. Shame as he has a lot of energy and enthusiasm.

Well I've seen him be a brilliant passer is a number of games. Gerrard has not reached the level Momo has yet.
