When I have seen Roma play I have seen Mancini on the left with Guily on the right

Compared to what we got Alves is a step up over most of them. Bring him in.

We were somewhere around Barstow on the edge of the desert when the drugs began to take hold.

I think that he will play on the right if we sign him. We are being linked with Menez and he plays on the left.

I think Rafa will play a five man midfield after the January transfer window if we sign a new right and left winger.

Missed a whole page of this thread :duh:

I can't see Rafa looking past 4-4-2 at the moment, also think he will only bring in one them if he does bring anyone in. Need a defender as well.

I think both Mendy and Alves was scouted by Houllier.
Just believe and you never know what will happen.

According to Benitez it's important not simply to go out to win but to go out prepared to win, which means players have to put in the same level of work on a daily basis. Anything else is unacceptable.

According to Wikipedia, Mancini's real name is Alessandro Faiolhe Amantino, so I guess it's both.

Will he be a Bergkamp or a flop?

Where do the wing backs fit into this formation?

Would Mancini fit in with the way we play?

He plays effectively as a wide striker in a 4-3-3 with Roma. Would he have the defensive discipline to play wide in a 4-4-2? As we know with Rafa he'd need to.

Really not sure about this Alves guy. As Shaggy says the Dutch League is largely Sunday Pub league standard, so he'd be a massive gamble. Would rather we paid a lot more for someone proven in a better league.

I think Mancini is extremely talented.
I have no doubt he could adopt to a 4-4-2 formation. Hasn't he played for some of his career as a full back? If so I'm sure he'd have the requisite defensive discipline.

My question would be if he could handle the physicality of The English game, if so I think he'd be a great signing.

Agree about Alves. The Dutch league isn't up to much. Let us not forget that Dirk Kuyt, who hasn't been prolific since he joined us by any means, was banging them in for fun in Holland.
I haven't seen much of Alves but based on this alone I would have reservations.

As for Mendy I don't think it's a RB we need. Both the CB and LB areas are much more pressing.
