You can’t just expect him to waltz into the reserve team, in games played on not very good pitches in front of hardly anybody, and immediatley start playing like Zinedine Zidane.
Lucas did ok, i think he was involved in the game without really having too uch of the ball. You are right people are expecting some Kaka/Zidane type straight away, ain't going to happen.

He and Leto were a class above the others, from their play you could see they had more experience and a bit more class then the other lads on show.
    We come not to play.

Didn't see the match last night but by all account Spearing had a good game. In the youth team/cup run he played at centre half didn't he? but he's too small for a long term future in that position. The other role he's played for youth/reserves in centre mid which is going to be very difficult for him to break into in the next few years. Given his, height, drive and love of a tackle could anyone who has seen him play regular basis see him adapting into a long term replacement for Finnan at right back?

To be fair though Shaggy the pitch last night was in good nick and in front of over 2000 people. I just thought his passing was poor and the game pretty much passed him by. Leto on the other hand was decent and I can see why he's knocking on the door of the first team. I just expect a little bit more than Lucas and I thought Spearing looked a lot better than him. I would like to see Spearing get a run out against Cardiff.

Hmmm. A crowd of just 2000 at Northwich Victoria isn’t exactly what Lucas came to Liverpool for. It must be hard to show your true worth in a young reserve side and in front of nobody, especially when you’re in a new country and don’t speak the language. Reserve games are grim.

As I said I thought he had a decent game (granted, Leto, Spearing and one or two others stood out ahead of him) and clearly he will need time and patience before we see the best of him.

He was never, ever gonna come straight in and start ‘owning games’.

He does seem to telegraph a lot of his passes though. Perhaps that’s just a lack of sharpness.

NEMETH AT THE DOUBLE FOR HUNGARY U19S
            Paul Hassall 12 October 2007

Reds striker Krisztian Nemeth emerged as the match winner as Hungary beat Wales 3-1 in a Uefa Under-19 Championship qualifier.
The 18-year-old forward, who arrived at Anfield from MTK Hungary during the summer, came off the substitutes' bench to fire home a second-half double and secure a deserved win for his country in the Sostoi Stadium.

The Reds were well represented in the match with keeper Peter Gulacsi also on show, after he was named in the Hungary starting line-up.

The win puts Hungary top of Group 2 with maximum points from two games played.

            No mention of Simon though

It was a reserves match against a set of very young and inexperienced players and we had the vast majority of the possession.

Aye and he was in an unfamiliar position playing with a still relatively unfamiliar set of team-mates.

They sound like lame excuses but they're undoubtedly contributory factors.

Well, I did say that in my post...

I'm not trying to say he's rubbish, I was just a little surprised he was unable to influence the game a bit more.

I agree it's not as if it was a Carling Cup match it was a game against some very young players which IMO he should be doing more.

Bah...it's very early days yet. If he's playing the same way (which was decent without being wonderful) in 12 months time then it will bother me. Not now though.

He's not ready for the first team, though.

Oh I agree and it's only one game.

I also agree he isn't ready for the 1st team.
