why and when did the friendly

derby become the venom filled hate ridden atmosphere we now experience at both the pit and the collesium ?

As recently as 99/2000 there were Blues allowed to celebrate on the Kop.

Reckon it's gone to another level since Istanbul.

Before they were bitter, now they are really, really bitter.

I bet at half time 3-0 down they thought that they were going to be the best club on Merseyside the following year, and perhaps beyond - yes I know deluded - they were in the European Cup, we weren't, Gerrard might've left, etc.

Then we came back. We won. We qualified for the CL, they got bombed out by Villarreal, then by some no marks in the Uefa cup.

It was supposed to be their time, but we upstaged them again.

Lets say we were the 2 top sides in country like we were in the mid 80's - yes I know but humour me. You think they would be releasing DVD's whenever they beat us? It shows how much they have fallen. They now have the small time/have not mentality of clubs like Bolton or Middlesborugh. Instead of trophies they've replaced it with bitterness and pathetic jibes at us. Because at one time they believed they were our equal.

And every year the gap between us and them gets wider, the more toxic they'll become.

I gathered your opinion mate, and id say its probably the majority opinion. I`ll be honest though, I used to despise all that merseyside bollocks. It probably is on the verge of going a bit far like but in my eyes this is much better than all that "friendly" derby bollocks

If I EVER see anyone spit at a 13 yr old girl I will break my knuckles on there face. Scumbag pieces of ****.

I think you know where i`m coming from though, even though we have differing opinions.

I just cant stomach the idea of merseyside being chanted around wembley again as the bitters try and latch onto our glory by being (for now) from the same city.

As soon as these inbred ****s **** off to kirkby there wont be a derby anyway so lets enjoy whats left of the hatred
