It is often forgotten that building for the future generally starts with success today.

Not that he would ever be sold to us but I don't want Drogba here because I frankly don't like him or his attitudes to the game. I know he would make us a better team but I have an emotional reaction against him. However if he came and was a success for us or helped us win the league then my feelings would probably change.
spot on, I accept he is a quality striker, but I have developed a real hatred for him and his theatrics. I think signing him would be on a par when we were about to sign Lee Bowyer. Everyone accpeted he was a good player and would have improved our wing play, but the thought, let alone the sight of him pulling on our shirt made me sick. The same would apply to Drogba, no matter how good the partnership would be with Torres.

I have too admit I dont like the **** when he is wearing Chav blue, but it has the possibilities of being an awesome pairing.
He is a ****, but the partnership of Torres and Drogba would be mouthwatering. No CB partnership in the world would be able to cope with their power and pace.

I would be all for a move.

Ok, maybe not relied, but he had both attributes and they helped make him the player he was.

Look at Shevchenko -another player who relied on power and pace. He loses half a yard and doesn't look the same player.

The only players who continue to be as effective into their mid-late thirties are intelligent technical players like Zola and Sheringham.
I would present Shearer as the closest analogy to Drogba. He did well as he got older. Both are intelligent role players who use their body and strength well. Shearers pace went but his eye for goal and ability to hold off a man meant he remained a very good player and regular scorer until he retired.

Other players who kept who started with less talent but aged well and would appear comparable in style would include Chris Sutton and Dion Dublin.

Why would I want LFC to buy a player for an extortionate price who is nearing thirty when they can splash the cash on a younger striker mid 20's where you know if he's a success you'll have this player for another 7 yrs at least?? Torres is 23, Dogsh*t is 29.

I actually can't believe you'd want us to sign Drogba by 31 he'll be another Henry on the decline, do you actually realise we are building for the future and not for tomorrow?
Just because you said that Drogba was the wrong side of 30 and you were wrong, don't have a hissy fit at me!! The Dion Dublin part was a joke on the back of your error - chill out mate ffs!!

Anyway, Newcastle bought Shearer for £15m when he was about 28, and we signed a very highly rated striker called Emile Heskey for £12m when he was 24 - who got the better deal??

Its all about the quality, not the age mate - and like it or not, Drogba is QUALITY!!

Drogba is a disgrace to professional footballers. As good as he is i hope he nevers gets within a 100 miles from a contract with us. Tosser, who has lost a lot of respect from me.

Drogba is a ****** of the highest order. Big eared, goofy, big faced, big headed prick!!!!!
Would he look good upfront for us with Nando? ****ing damn right. I could always be persuaded to change my mind on him.

                    Sign him Roffa!!!

                      He would probably cost £25m+.

I think we can get a better striker than him for that price. His playing style is beginning to notice on his injury record.

                      Drogba or for example Diego.

I would sign Diego 10 times out of 10.
Just believe and you never know what will happen.

According to Benitez it's important not simply to go out to win but to go out prepared to win, which means players have to put in the same level of work on a daily basis. Anything else is unacceptable.

                          Not pedantic at all.

Big difference between 26 and 28. That's a full two seasons of Shearer in his prime for your buck.
