Momo- should he stay or should he go?

I would have no problem with Momo being sold. We now have Leiva as well, and Guthrie is staring to get games for Bolton so we have three really good CMers, one real talent and a decent local lad.
If we can get £8M+ I`d sell.
His probably the best in the PL breaking up attacks, just a shame half of them are Liverpools.
I used to love the guy, but he passing is just so poor that`s it`s a real danger. Could it be his eyesight has gone?
Anyways, we got very lucky and won, this evens out the Chelsea penalty IMO.

He's been very poor, and i dont think we will get the money that was mentioned in the summer

8 million, no chance. We'd be lucky to get over 5 for him, his weaknesses have become far too apparent.

Sell him to Grimsby for a set of practice balls.

Riise keeps losing ours over the Melwood walls.

I lost faith in him completely. Great athlete, **** footballer.

Gerrard, Alonso, Masch and Lucas: Good enough, strong enough, deep enough.

Sell him for as much as possible, secure Masch on a permanent deal and invest in other areas of the squad.

Last year he was the dogs bollocks now he's the villain. The lad is on a poor run FFS, every player goes through spells like that. Gerrard ain't brilliant either. We should stand by him and he'll come good.

The lad has defensive qualities but I wouldn't be sorry to see him go. He'd suit a midtable team in my view who would welcome his athleticism and ability to break up play.

A top team will find less use for his ability to break up play given that top teams can expect more possession and given that his distribution is so woeful.

I'd say Masher, Gerrard, Alonso, and Leiva are a better four.

see if Leiva shows us anything before selling.

Still think he has a role to play in the 3 man midfield

Fair comment fredo, but the doubts about his distribution were around then. He has qualities. He's not ****e, but I think we have less need of the qualities he has, and have more need of those things that are desperate weaknesses.

Given we've added Masher and Leiva (his league's player of the year last season) I think we're in a position to now cash in, without making him a villain.

Said similar this summer. I don't think he's **** as some do by any means. But only the deluded will tell you he is a decent passer of the ball, and if you're playing furthest forward in a two man CM as he often will for us then that's not good enough. Way I see it he doesn't have the tactical discipline and awareness for the holding role, and he doesn't have the creative ability to play further forward.

He can be an absolute beast for us given the right set of circumstances, but IMO he'll never be quite up to the standard as an option to slot in for any old game he might be needed. He's put in some quality performances for us but in terms of squad progression we need to look towards players that can boss games by dominating possession in a balanced way, not stopping power alone - which is what Momo represents. With other quality players in the same position, I can only see a bit part role for him, unless of course we move towards a 3 man midfield, or we can't keep Mascherano.

He's sloppy in his passing, that's not the fact of poor technical ability. His control and touch is excellent IMO, but he rushes passes and doesn't concentrate enough. Maybe it's due to the fact that he spends so much energy in running. He was superb for us in his first season until his injury.

Poor spell maybe, but the lad can hardly pass a ball and can't shoot for toffee (recent goal was a fluke). I can name his good games on one hand and still have fingers to spare.

Not a LFC player in my opinion.

I still don't think we'll finish in the top 4 this season."

As long as he concentrates at playing it simple he'll be ok. All the best defensive midfielders pass the ball to the nearest player. Just win the ball and pass. It's just channelling his energy into doing it that needs pruning.

In too many games since Mascherano arrived Momo has been asked to play more of an attacking role, regularly around the edge of the box. As much as I like him he hasn't got the qualities necessary to be effective in those positions so we don't make the most of them.

I just think he lacks the quality needed. A defensive midfielder has a limited game to play, but we need one with more talent. We need another Hamman.
