For what its worth I thought Stevie played well today, only thing I could see that he wasnt doing as well as normal was the defensive duties, but that said signs that hes coming back to somewhere near his best. It all bodes well for the rest of the season. As for the subbing...whilst it was unexpected it certainly paid dividends, if that was luck or judgement remains to be proven, however I am willing to give Rafa the benefit of the doubt.
We won when not playing particularly well, against everton, away, and are still unbeaten in the league. Good day in my opinion.
Oh, Stevie didnt look that unhappy at the final whistle and shortly after in my opinion either.
In Rafa I trust.

Considering the quality of their team and the fact they only had one player of any creative quality on the pitch (Arteta) they should not have been allowed to dominate long periods of the game like they did. There were too many times when I think they were one pass away from opening us up. Yes, but he still had to benefit from a good ball from The Crow as he went on the run ending with the goal, making it a team game.
Stevie did pull us back into the game but he's trying to do every thing by himself. Instead of playing it simple, he tries the difficult thing, maybe Rafa wanted a more calculated game at that stage. I think we had 2 clear cut chances after he went off. We still had match winners out there.Comment

But he was tasked to roam inside. It doesn't have to be the obvious playing in a theoretical formation match up who covers. Gerrard was effectively given a free attacking role by Rafa and used it. If you give that freedom to someone you have to task someone else to cover the spaces they inevitably leave.

I'm assuming he was aked to balance covering Finnan with "roaming inside". He didn't do that. Poor old SF was left out to dry.But he was tasked to roam inside.
