Maybe we would have won 4-1 if SG had stayed on with Lucas. Who knows. Momo was CLEARLY the worst player at CM. If we have to debate that I'm inclined to close down this forum for a whileOriginally posted by red g View Postbut if he did,Lucas would probsbly not have been in the positions he was to win the game!
Momo didn't play deep anyway. He was as high up as Gerrard most of the time which was part of the original problem. We needed players who could play n pass. Ei. not Momo.
We were somewhere around Barstow on the edge of the desert when the drugs began to take hold.

I agree with your football point. I just think we fall into insults too easily when our disagreements are not personal but simply about the minutiae of football decisions.Originally posted by CAD View PostI hear you. However, when you post sanctimonious ****e like:
"Nice to see the usual Knee jerk weekend posters still throwing toys out off their prams. I`m off back to to Chatroom to avoid the eijitts."
...then dear Quinncy should expect to get a little stick. I'm sorry if I forgot to lubricate it.
The point:
Lucas could easily play the position Momo played Saturday. Quinncy would know that if he wasn't talking out of his ass. If his too demented to see that Rafas statement afterwards (About less heart and more brains) make no sense and then give us the "great laidback all seeing eye from the ****room" who can't be bothered with the negative weekend posters :wanksideways:

I`ve read four years of your negative diatribe, you are still the most negative poster i`ve met.Originally posted by CAD View PostYou say dickhead

You have zero substance. Even Marky has more to offer. I have never read one line you produced here that was even mildly entertaining let alone interesting. You offer nothing so how can I/we debate you?
How ironic that Quinncy turns out to be DOA as a poster.
When you have nothing left to say you turn to insults and personal attacks to back up your negative viewpoint.:whatever:
It`s funny that as soon as i mention eijits you come hurtling in with a childish answer.
Best thing to do with you is put you on ignore and leave you to wallow in negativity.
You still hav`nt got the hang of this comedy thing have you???

LIVERPOOL manager Rafael Benitez believes that captain Steven Gerrard will understand the decision to substitute him in the derby when he reflects on the game.
Gerrard looked surprised when his number eight was shown on the fourth official’s board with 20 minutes remaining at Goodison Park on Saturday.
Despite the game being finely balanced at the time, Benitez made a bold decision to substitute Gerrard for Brazilian rookie Lucas Leiva.
Although it was seen as an unusual move at the time, the gamble paid off as the youngster inspired Liverpool’s winning goal by firing in a goalbound shot which Phil Neville handled on the line to earn the visitors their stoppage time penalty.
Benitez revealed he had decided to withdraw his skipper because the England midfielder was playing with ‘too much passion’ and with his heart rather than his head.
He said: “The idea was clear. We were playing with 11 players against 10, we had plenty of possession and we needed to control the ball.
“I looked at (John Arne) Riise a player with quality and game intelligence, (Momo) Sissoko was doing a fantastic job, and (Javier) Mascherano was keeping the position in front of the centre-backs.
“I needed to change a player for playing between the lines around the midfielders.
“If I changed Kuyt or (Andriy) Voronin it could be the same (reaction from supporters).
“Gerrard is a fantastic player, there is no doubt about this but you are playing the game and you need to take decisions to win the game.
“If I’d had needed to change Pepe Reina because he was nervous I would do it. Sometimes you need to wait, sometimes you need to do it.”
Gerrard seemed surprised by the manager’s decision to withdraw him from the action but Benitez insists his captain will understand the reasons behind the move once the derby dust has settled.
He said: “He wanted to play for sure. I tried to talk to him but he was disappointed.
“The clever decision will be to look at it with him later and analyse why (the decision was made). I think he will understand because it is normal to do the best for the team.”
One player Benitez did have special praise for in midfield was Momo Sissoko despite the Mali international firing wide from close range when presented with a glorious opportunity to clinch the points before Kuyt’s winner.
Benitez said: “He’s doing a fantastic job.
“He gives the ball away sometimes but he will be the best player in every game because he runs more than anyone, he regains more balls than anyone, and he covers all his team-mates.
“He needs to improve in front of goal, I’ve told him he needs to practise but I have faith in him.”

According to Benitez it's important not simply to go out to win but to go out prepared to win, which means players have to put in the same level of work on a daily basis. Anything else is unacceptable.

It`s possible that Rafa was afraid that with a referee who was throwing around red cards in a derby,SG could easily have lost the head and made a stupid tackle resulting in his sending off.(More heart than brains)
If we had sufficient back up in defence Carra would have been taken off aswell because he was playing with more heart than brains.
You deducted from all this that Rafa said Momo was a better passer than SG,FFS!!!!!.
*Awaits more insults and very bad humour*

Madrid le plot ?Originally posted by red g View PostVery puzzling???

FFS, Momo didn't play as badly as against Marseille and he wasn't our worst player on Sat. He works his socks off and was covering Gerrard's arse while he was wandering around the pitch trying to do it all by himself.

The big thing I think to come out of the game is how little faith Rafa now appears to have in the form of our wide players in midfield."The man who never alters his opinion is like standing water, and breeds reptiles of the mind."

I think what Rafa said was absolute tosh. Momo was not doing fantastic. And like he said, Masher was sat in front of the back 4.
So given we had a back four and a defensive midfielder sat in front of them against 10 men, why would you take off Gerrard rather than Sissoko?
If it's because Sissoko is doing "fantastic" then I watched a different game.
It made no sense at the time. The more he explains it, the less sense it makes.
If anything, like I said at the time, it shows him to have a negative mindset in my view.

why come onto internet chatroom's then unless they are going to be inhabited exclusively by the most gifted managers in world football.
after all, you'll only dismiss everyone else.
