That's a bit of a surprise really, ok he got a few decisions wrong but nothing on the scale of Styles at Anfield. The main things he did wrong for me was getting the yellow out and then appearing to change his mind after Gerrard spoke to him and in all fairness Kuyt probably should of gone for the Karate kick as per the letter of the law.

The Lescott decisions were tough to call, i don't think he saw Finnans first one and players blocked the view of the Carra one at the end and to be fair i thought he leaned into him looking for the pen so tough ****ing **** bluenose.

For me the main thing was he kept reasonable control over what is always a fast paced, fiery encounter. For me Clattenburg is one of the more consistent refs in the Premier League.

During the local derby match between Everton and Liverpool on October 20, 2007, he declined Everton's appeals for a penalty in the third minute of added time, seconds before the final whistle, when Jamie Carragher pulled Everton's Joleon Lescott to the ground in the Liverpool six yard box. Tony Hibbert and Phil Neville from the home side both received red cards from Clattenburg during the match, although Hibbert's was controversial as Clattenburg had drawn a yellow card from his pocket, but then showed a red card after Liverpool captain Steven Gerrard spoke to him. Clattenburg also neglected to send off Liverpool's Dirk Kuyt after a shocking two-footed aerial challenge, instead only showing him a yellow card instead of the straight red that the offence should have warranted. Following this disastrous display, it was confirmed by the FA Premier League that Clattenburg would not officiate any match on the weekend of November 3.

The Kuyt challenge (not the "Kuyt kung fu incident" ) was not a definite sending off. He certainly could have been and maybe he should have been but it wasn't a certainty like a lot of people (including too many people on here) are making out.

He didn't make contact, it wasn't studs first.
