I hate this sorts of meaningless stroies. You would hope all players wanted to talk to the manager after being substituted to find out what they could improve. Gerrards comments to the media while obviously not necessarily a good representation of his true feelings have been very encouraging in this regard.

i found a bit disturbing that a manager has to explain himself because of one substitution, that he has to come out and say he's spoken to the player and everything's all right. when it comes to gerrard rafa always feels the need to explain - or dare i say defend - himself. on the field it seems we've put all that one-man-team thing to a rest but off the field it is still very much the same.
btw, i'm not criticising gerrard here cause i don't know who's to blame for this.

I would have thought Gerrard would have every right to understand Rafa's thinking behind the substitution but to suggest that Gerrard has demanded talks IMO is trying to make him out to be Billy Big Boots again. Not helpful really.
