Shanks did not change allegiance. Like most auld fellas, he just wanted to feel involved, and would get involved with anyone who welcomed him.

That is not the same as changing allegiance, whatever he said afterwards.
    Really?

Did you know that when Tommy Docherty was managing Man U he asked Shankly to help him out (by giving advice)

Docherty said shortly after this he walked into the dressing at Old Trafford to find Shankly giving a team talk to his players!!!!
He also told Bob Paisley about Steve Coppell but when Bob didn't pay any attention he told Docherty about him and Docherty went out and signed him straight away.

YNWA? Mr Shankly wasn't dealt with well. It was a shameful and sad episode...he shouldn't have retired when he did - maybe - who knows...?

Next time you see the 77 Euro Cup being shown off to the fans, you should see Shanks chatting with Keegan - from memory he might even be dissuading him from getting up on the ledge to show off
